In my 45 years of being alive i have seen a lot of stupid people. I think for the most part it goes both ways. There is a lot of people out there that try to teach there kids how to get along in this world but for what ever reason when the kid grows up they turn stupid. It wasn't because there parents didn't try. For some reason it just didn't take. To me that is stupid by choice. Then there are some people that should never be allowed to swim in the gene pool. Because they have no idea how to raise a kid. They just let the kid run which ever way the wind blows as long as the kid isn't bothering them. There bound to be obnoxious and stupid like so many i have seen today. They don't have a chance because they were not taught how they are suppose live and act in society. There stupid because they were not taught any other way.

It's true that some people born smarter then the others, it's like a talent but even the most stupid person can surpass a smart one because it depend on the society, so it a smart person is affected by a stupid society and the stupid one educated well and have a good influence he can become smarter

People are raised to be inconsiderate however, I believe common sense is determined by your IQ (which is basically your problem solving and reasoning ability) which cannot be fixed. The main problem is that stupid people are too ignorant to realize they are stupid. Everyone nowadays is raised with the mentality that they can be whatever they want to be and they are equal in every way to everyone else which unfortunately is not the case.

It could have something to do with how many times they were dropped when they were a baby.

It could be due to brain chemistry - not always due to how they were brought up. I grew up with 3 siblings - 3 of us are intelligent, mature and well adjusted while 1 is selfcentred, greedy, immature and downright ignorant. She blames the way she was brought up, bad parents etc but the rest of us were brought up by the same people and learnt our morals from them.

A lot has to do with being raised as well as individual choices. Humans unlike other animals need School, and we don't have natural instincts like most animals do. We are what we learn. Our minds are like computers. We function based upon what is inside of us. If we were taught wrong, lies, foolishness, etc... don't expect wisdom and good knowledge to come out. A corrupt program in a computer will mess is up. Wrong teaching to a person will do the same. People are also a product of their environment. Those you choose as friends will have a lot to do with whom you become. A friend of a fool will soon become like him. A friend of wise persons will also become wise. So I base it upon upbringing, choice of friends, education and life experiences. We all don't have or are not blessed with very intelligent parents or don't have good life experience.
Whatever is in us will come out of us.

I think it can be both, or either. Some people are stupid because they choose not to listen to common sense, like my exhusband, for example. Some people are stupid because they were raised by stupid people who taught them stupid things about life; they never had a chance.

first I really dislike the word stupid. There are people in this world that don't have a choice. Those with learning disability. so how do you count them into your equation.

Ignorance is often mistaken for stupidity. If you are raised not knowing any better or being taught correctly, you can be mistaken for being stupid. If you have someone who is the mentor who is unaware of reality, they can pass that same train of thought on to those over whom they have control

Are you talking stupid as in intelligence or stupid meaning no common sense? Intelligence can't be helped. Common sense or awareness is something that can be changed
