Well... My cat ate something. I am not sure if it is the nipple from the baby bottles (because I have seen in his vomitt sometimes with lil nipples), or the misiltoe (or however you spell it). So anyway. He wont touch his food. He will only drink water. I have no idea what to do. Since this happened after the holidays we are short on cash. We have the money to get him looked at dont get me wrong. However I spoke with my mother who has a problem like that were our dog at a ham bone and it costed her $1400 for surgery and for boarding. I dont have that much money. So I am just curious. What are some things that I can do to maybe help it work out of his system. Or make him feel better. Thank you!

Please get him to the vet now.

Poisoning and/or swallowed objects are both emergencies. Anytime a cat will not eat it is very serious. Cats can develop a fatty liver (a life-threatening condition) if they do not eat. He needs to be seen by a vet immediately. The longer you wait, the more serious (and therefore, more expensive) it may become.

Please get him to the vet now.

I don't know how different cats and dogs are but a few weeks ago my dog would not eat and would just drink large amounts of water and would pee in the floor ... I took her to the vet and found out she has kidney disease. They had to flush her system for 3 days on IV; I dropped her off in the mornings and picked her up in the evenings. She is now on a special KD diet. She cost me about $550 but it's worth it to see her back to almost normal again.

See if you can work something out with your vet ... best of luck. Hope your kitty gets to feeling better soon !

You need to get the cat to the vet, S/he could have a blockage that MAY or may NOT need surgery, My cat had the same problem, he ate the mistletoe (LESSON 56 OF HAVING KITTENS!) and the vet just put him on fluid, an anti-biotic, and force fed him. It cost $98.99. A fair amount of money if you ask me!. Please get him checked out. I suggest if you can't get him the treatment he needs you either surrender him to a shelter or rehome him/her to somebody that will pay for vet costs. OIther then that it would be in the cats best interests to be put to sleep, You dont want the cat in pain do you?.

Vet costs may not cost as much as you think!

I have to agree with HAWKER. Your cat needs immediate veterinary attention. I stronly recommend that you seek veterinary attention for this cat to see what his problem may be.

Try waiting until he throws up then give him LOTS of water to help flush whatever he ate out of his system.
