I have heard a lot of people use this term. I was wondering what the actual name is. Not the titles that are used. I have been told you have to be baptized in the name of the trinity. So, what is the NAME?

There is no such thing as a trinity....it is a man-made doctrine to mislead many people.

''I baptize you, (person's name) in the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.''

We are instructed in my church to make the sign of the cross at every mention of the Trinity, as a sign of our faith, and our reverence for and obedience to God.

The Holy Trinity is the one true and triune God. One God, three manifestations. Most Christians worship the Trinity in person and the Unity in substance, though the anti-catholics who do not understand this or where their religion came from are quick to claim that the idea of the Trinity came from some ''Babylonian religion,'' damning all trinitarians to hell, usually. But the concept of the Holy Trinity is in the New Testament, very clearly. If you want a more ''biblical'' name, call the Trinity the Godhead. Two ways of saying the same thing.

I included a link to the article that best explains God's triune nature, the Athanasian Creed. I also included the Nicene and Apostles' creeds, respectively. If you click on the ''bookofconcord'' link, then click on the one labelled ''The Creed,'' there is an explanation of what the Apostles' Creed specifically means, according to Martin Luther. All three creeds explain the same thing, but in different ways. In my church, and many others, we confess our faith in these three creeds.

Peace,
Drew

PS: Noone ever called God ''Jehovah'' before the KJV was translated. There is no ''j'' sound in the Hebrew language.

Your simple question confused about 30 people. LOL! ha! ha! ha! Some gave the titles of God.

There is no name for the trinity because it is not a biblical teaching. It is a pagan teaching incorporated as "official church teaching" by so called Christian bishops, starting in the 4th century, because they were afraid of or were expecting favor from Emperor Constantine. Constantine wanted that pagan teaching incorporated into the state religion--which was Christianity--to appease his pagan subjects.

For the info of everybody, please read the King James Bible.

The name of God Almighty is Jehovah ( Ex 6:3; Psalm 83:18)
The name of the Son of God, is Jesus--who considered himself much inferior to Jehovah. ( Read John 14:28, Mat 20:20-23; John 2017 )

The holy spirit is God's power that Jesus promised his disciples would be poured to them. Jesus promise of the pouring of the holy spirit happened in Pentecost. ( Read Luke 24:49; Acts 2:1-4)

There is no trinity. That is why it isn't mentioned in the Bible.

Deuteronomy 6:4,5 - 4 Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! 5 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

HASTINGS ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RELIGION, Vol 2, Pg 389
Baptism was always in the name of Lord Jesus until the time of Justin Martyr when the Triune formula was used.

CANNEY ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RELIGION, Pg 53
The early church always baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus until development of the Trinity doctrine in the 2nd century.

Y'shua HaMaschiach (Jesus) is the Son of God. He is a Hebrew man (human) born of human parents (Joseph and Mary). He carries the lineage of Abraham and King David through His Jewish father. He is NOT God in the flesh. The Bible never says that He is God. And, He never claims to be God.

The 'Christian' Jesus doesn't line up with the Old Testament's prophesies of who the Messiah really is. This is also partly the reason that Jews may find the Christ-Catholic version of Messiah laughable. Many people see Christians as worshiping 'another' god.

Jews know the Tanakh ('Old' Testament). All things in the Newer Testament must be verified through the Older Testament. This is what Paul was telling us in the Bible about the Bereans (Acts 17:10-12). What book do Christians think the Bereans were reading to verify what Paul was teaching?

Jesus is not a pagan semi-human demigod. The trinity is a theory of Babylonian origin. Like many deceptions of the Babylonian mystery religions, the 'trinity' is also a mystery. It is a mystery simply because, lies will never prove true.

Since you refer to baptism, I assume you mean the trinity of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost.

But, it all depends on which religion/trinity you are referring to. Other cultures have a trinity concept as well...such as some Pagan traditions and the Triple-Goddess which is the three phases of Goddess (and Womanhood) of Maiden, Mother, and Crone.

Actually that reads, "in the name of The Father, Son and Holy Spirit." I have a completely different problem with this. I know the name of The Father. It's Jehovah. I know the name of The Son. It's Jesus. But, what is the name of The Holy Spirit?

I'm sorry if this offends anybody, but seriously, it bothers me.

The trinity is a false doctrine from about the year 325 AD, based partly on pagan, older triune gods.

It is not in the bible unless you really, really stretch it to fit.

Depends which country and religion you are asking about.

It is trimurti in Hindu, but the Brahma is greatest along with Shiva and Vishnu. Isis, Osiris, Horus are one in Egypt....

This stuff is Platos doing. He made them all male and made them one being in unity. All cultures/religions who follow him have taken it up. He's even credited in the RC encyclopedia for much of this stuff.

Believing the 3 are Manifestations of God is modality and considered heresy by mainline trinitarians.

There are at least 5 or 6 DIFFERENT versions of trinity in Christendom as well as binity, unitarianism, etc.

Church people mistakenly think there is only 1 version.

RC do address many of their prayers to Jesus/Mary/Joseph. I guess for them it is the earthly triad....most pagans had a heavenly triad represented by the sun, moon and morning star Venus and an earthly one of air/sky, water, earth.

RC do not call the earthly one a trinity, but ritually say their names over and over and addressed memorized or read prayers to the 3 of them as a group.

I'm not sure what term you are referring to, but any baptism I have witnessed they baptized them "in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit". Which is the trinity.
