The whole idea of the switch is to use the off-the-air bandwidth more efficiently.

Analog radio uses very little bandwidth so I doubt the FCC will bother to make a mandatory switch any time soon.

Analog TV will end by law, on February 17, 2009.
All signals on tv's will be digital
After the tvs go digital then probably they will start to look for a date to turn all radios the same way.

I believe that the radiios will go digital when the markets record that they have been selling many of these radios, than they will see that most of the people own digital radios.

My understanding is that analog TV broadcasts will end in February of 2009. Supposedly there will be adapters sold to covert the digital signals for your analog TV. However, I have not seen any source which can tell you what the cost of the converters will be.

Can't tell you anything regarding radio.
