I've been raised as a Methodist, but the past few years have left me questioning my Christian beliefs. I still believe in God, but I also am intrigued by paths of other religions. Do you think that God gave the world different religions for a more colorful palate, and that to acheive a better sense of spritual awakening it's acceptable to incorporate beliefs of other faiths?

More likely, all religions have right and wrong things in them, and it's up to all of us to try to find the right path among all those differing beliefs.

And it's important to remember that no matter how goofy, wrong, or cruel a religion might seem, there are good, thoughtful, and humble people who draw strength from that belief.

Now go out there and seek righteousness!

I could never turn from belief in Christ as my Savior; that is, for me, the ultimate truth. And when it comes to something that important to the soul, conflicting belief systems can't all be right and I don't think God would have led people to believe conflicting things.

However, it's possible to see all the religions of the world as an attempt to connect with God, and appreciate the truths found in them, for they all contain some beautiful truths.

May I recommend a book by Scott Peck called Further Along the Road Less Traveled, a sequel to the best-seller The Road Less Traveled. It goes into detail about finding one's spiritual path in a way that's respectful to all beliefs.

Blessings.

God didn't give the world different religions. Almost all of them are the inventions of men. They all have a ton of truths, since they use the same menu. You can't go wrong if you continue your religious path. Just be a good person and you will come forth in the first resurrection and live in a more perfect world with Jesus Christ. I guarantee it.

No. Don't let political correctness lead you astray. God did not inspire idolatry. God did not give the world lots of different religions. Every religion is not equally valid. Be careful my friend.

It makes no sense that God would tell one person one thing and tell someone else exactly the opposite.

Beliefs of other faiths that contadict the teachings of the Bible are in error.

What many people do when searching for the Truth is take what they like from other religions. But that is not God's Way of it. He placed true religion in front of us with Jesus Christ as our King. We are to follow that way and if any church goes off the path you are to get out of it to stay clean. Please look into the religion that lives according to the Bible. I mean lives their lives by it.

You must find your own personal path to god. If that takes incorporating things from many different belief systems, that is fine. However you find your way is the way for you.

Perhaps "God" gave the world different religions as a method of population control. It seems to be most effective in that role...

Sure, you can have beliefs from different religions. But God did not create religion; man did. Even Christianity and the different denomonations are man-made.

I believe something similar to that. I believe that all religions worship the same God, and we should respect the ways of other religions and adopt what we can to make ourselves more complete spiritually as humans.

that's a nice way of looking at it. i don't believe in god, but that doesn't mean i can't learn from religions. they each have a beautiful ethos to offer and to ignore all religions would be to ignore all the diversity of our earth.
