Long hours on the computer will take its toll on your eyes, but it typically doesn't cause major problems. The effects on the eyes are mostly eye strain, and your vision will probably deteriorate a little faster than what normally happens with age. The biggest health problems most people develop with computer use are carpal tunnel syndrome and spinal problems from hunching over. Both of these things take years to develop. You can avoid all of these problems by taking a 5 minute break every half hour to 45 minutes, periodically focusing your eyes on distant objects, and paying attention to your posture.

Several things can happen being at a computer for too long. Eye strain is one, you can end up with severe bad posture and back and neck problems. Carpal Tunnel syndrom in the wrist is another problem. Take frequent breaks from the computer and exercise. Stretch your muscles to prevent atrophy. Walk for a bit. Limit your ocmputer usuage to maybe 2 hours continueous. I leave my computer for 15 to 20 minutes every hour to give my body a break.

Yes. Eye strain from staring at the screen too long. If I'm on the computer too long, I find my eyes get irritated and dry. That's why video games tell you to only play them for a limited amount of time then take a break.

After reviewing the answers given so far, I agree with "memommy3" although your muscles will not atrophy. They may instead become cramped or strained.
