I have also been informed that I would have the opportunity to choose submarine, surface warfare, or aviation within the supply corps. With those 3 opportunities, I believe that I would choose surface warfare and aviation as my primary selections.

My follow up question is what these options would dictate....For example, I imagine that aviation would more than likely have me serving on a carrier. And to go beyond that, what are the advantages/disadvantages of serving on carriers as opposed to smaller ships?

Thanks again!!

With Aviation Supply you may be on a carrier and you may not be. You could also get stationed with a squadron that you only go to sea when they go to sea if at all as you may stay behind. It can depend on the command itself as you could go to one that is comprised of personnel who are the Air Traffic Controllers and deploy on several LHA/LHD's so you stay behind to make sure all the parts go to the right place. Or you could go to a carrier itself or you could go to a destroyer. The Navy will put you where they need you.

Air side means you would be SUPPO for a Squadron..not necessarily on a carrier. several Squadrons are land based 24/7 and do not in fact ever see 'sea duty' although you would deploy as often, if not more so, to various and sundry fun spots.
