How long is it going to take for him to recover?

Definitely get your bird to an avian vet immediately. It doesn't matter how the bird was injured... the important thing is for him to receive treatment. If it's an infection, he needs antibiotics. If it was something that hit the eye, he needs antiinflammatories and perhaps pain medication. It's vital you get him to the avian vet immediately to determine if there is any damage to the eye (eyesight). The longer you wait, the worse the damage can get, the more your bird suffers and the closer to some serious complications you get.

Please don't hesitate... you owe it to him to have this treated properly.

Good luck!

It could be either one of those things. You should take him to the vet for a check up and to be sure if it is not a infection because if it is, he needs antibiotics.

My African Gray displays the same symptons, 4 days now. 12/28/07. Slightly swollen, slightly closed. No discharge. How did your situation turn out? Please advise?
