I had roughly the same amount of people at my wedding. Two full kegs did the job fine.

You should get Kegs, and that depends on the ages of the people and the size of keg. Ask the place where you order your keg about how many cups or glasses it serves. Then make your decision by how drunk you want everyone to get. I think 3-4 per person is good. You have some that wont drink any and some that drink more. If you order a larger amount and some is left over then you can use it later for a smaller gathering with your friends, for after the honeymoon.

Im assuming all 225 do not drink?
If you have a limited budget then go with kegs.
A keg runs you about 60-70 bucks a piece plus a deposit which you get back when your return the keg & pump.
4 or 5 kegs should do the job. If your wanted cans or bottles your talking some big cash.

If your plan is to provide SOME beer for your guests as opposed to all the beer for the night, it should be fairly easy to calculate. Of course it also depends upon your guest list, but if it is representative of the general population, you can assume that only about 25% of your guests will have any beer and that a much smaller percentage will have more than one or two.
If it were me, I would try to get a deal where you only pay for what gets tapped or opened. Pre-authorize up to 3 half-barrels of beer and require your personal authorization for anything higher than that. That will get you over 400 cups of beer and the option of buying a 4th half-barrel if needed. (the last few hard drinkers can always buy their own at the cash bar once your beer runs out)
If you go with cans or bottles, pre-authorize the same number of units. What ever you do, avoid giving them a blank check without oversight, or you will get screwed big time. They have a much harder time with an accurate count when they are doing the counting.

Depends on how long your reception will be. I would guess the average person will drink a beer in a half hour, but nobody should drink more than 5 or 6 if they are driving. If you are serving other mixed drinks or wine, that would also play into how much as well. Also, women will tend to drink less than men. If you are serving for 3 hours, I would guess 35 to 40 cases. That would be 3 kegs or so if you want to go the inexpensive route.
