You can't directly get him adopted by those type of businesses but you can get him adopted by other people. Try these websites:
http://www.adoptaussoldier.org/ (add his name)
http://www.anysoldier.com/
http://www.soldiersangels.org/
http://www.operationadoptasoldier.com/
http://www.mysoldier.com/programs.htm
http://adoptaplatoon.org/new/
http://www.operationmilitarypride.org/ (this site is just awesome, they have tons and tons of ways to adopt or support a soldier)
http://www.booksforsoldiers.com/
http://cobacall01.tempdomainname.com/foster/
http://www.americasupportsyou.mil/AmericaSupportsYou/letters_messages.html (another really good site with tons of help to adopt such as send letters or packages)

http://www.50degree.com/custom/index.cfm?ID=44068

These are just a few that I have used but you can also join these groups:

And once you get started with one here are some ideas on what to send:

Here is the United States Postal Service site and they have restrictions and such.

The U.S. Postal Service introduced a Military Care Kit, or "Mili-kit" for military families and friends to send care packages to their loved ones stationed overseas. Each kit contains two Priority Mail boxes, six Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes, eight Priority Mail labels, one roll of Priority Mail tape and eight customs forms with envelopes. This kit may be ordered by calling the USPS Expedited Package Supply Center at 1-800-610-8734. There is no charge for the kit. The Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes included in the kit can be shipped to any APO/FPO in the world, regardless of weight, for $8.10. Here is info on the military postal service:

I have an 11 page attachment of themed Care Package Ideas if you want it. Just email me for them.
I also have cake in a jar recipes and such to send if you want that to.
Remember to you can contact the schools he attended in his hometown and see if they can adopt him or call the church he attended as a boy or check your local girlscouts or boyscout groups out, they are always looking for service projects.
Good luck. I have used these people before and my husband is getting some things from them and I have no worries at all.

My question is this to you: why aren't YOU doing this? Why rely on the kindness of Business people?

Secondly: Your Soldier will have more things available to him Downrange than you know. If he tells you that there's nothing there, he's lying to you. Granted, the amount may be in short demand, but he can use his Credit Card/Military STAR Card and order things online to be shipped to him. He will have access to Internet daily (unless in a very remote area)... He won't need to worry about eating, for they have Professional CHEFS that are there to prepare the meals. The meals are of 4-5 Star Quality. The food is FREE for him to eat at the Mess Hall. Also, they have many Fast Food places there. If he's in one Location (won't say for OPSEC)...he will also have a pool there to swim in on his off Duty time.

So, instead of trying to milk kindness from Business people or even the normal public for 'things'....why not concentrate on sending letters/cards and the likes to him?

Soldiers must be supported by businesses because they are fighting in other countries so that those at home can sleep peacefully.
