You contact the store you purchased it from and exchange it or get a refund. If you bought it from Microsoft, contact them and return the item. If it was a download from the Internet, you don't actually, "return" the software, you just promise to destroy the copy you have in your posession and get a new download. This isn't any big deal, downloads and files on removable media get corrupted all the time, and it is easy to replace or redownload a new copy.
