put the main gospels together and find differences and omissions

put them next to the edited "gnostic" gospels and find even more ideas and teachings that don't jive

what exactly does the gospels reveal if there is more than one version of "the truth"?

Sigh.... yet ANOTHER uninformed question by a supposed "expert" on the Bible who obviously has never read it for themselves.

The gospels reveal the Truth.

Finding inconsistencies is the first step in discovering the truth sweetie! The next step is to find a way to resolve them. Surely you're aware that your understanding of the universe is flawed and incomplete...I mean, really, you have made mistakes before haven't you? You've seen or heard something and misinterpreted it or you've reached the wrong conclusions based on what you thought was overwhelming evidence? Cheating boyfriend/girlfriend, lying friend, deceptive boss, ...or you've just gotten a bad grade on a test or essay because you didn't understand what the teacher was asking?

When you find an inconsistency in the gospel, that's your cue to examine your interpretation! Personally, I've never encountered a flaw or omission in the gospel that wasn't a result of my own flawed perception. There is only one version of "the truth"...if you find another, you've made the same mistake you made when you trusted someone that proved to be untrustworthy or when you messed up a test question...you're not interpreting the evidence accurately!

The so-called inconsistencies in the gospels teach us a lot about the writers and the conditions under which they wrote. There was an early Christian called Marcion who tied to harmonise them but no one liked the result and it was declared to be a heresy (thank goodness)
These differences and omissions demonstrate clearly to me that the bible was not written, as some would have it, in the second quarter of the fourth century.
Some documents did not make it into the canon but we see no theological reason to exclude them so they are printed as the apocryphal new testament. Many are now incomplete.
Others are rejected because they exhibit the gnostic heresies.

There is more than 98% aagreement. I know of a few discrepancies but they are rather small compared to the whole. Some of the gospels were written 2ND hand such as Luke who didn't join the church until Paul's 2ND or 3rd Mission which would be about 10 or 12 years after the death of Christ. Mark (John Mark) was also a young boy during Christ's life, so likely wrote his gospel from Peter's words, who didn't write a gospel even though he was there most of the events. 2ND hand information written will have a few discrepancies in the hearing and understanding. They are so minor as to totally irrelevant

Try reading a text that is the original.
See 'The Talmud Jmmanuel' text for comparison. James Deardorff lecture is available on the Internet, in which he points out the inconsistancies. (From youtube or elsewhere)

Anyway all the interpretations made by the early Christians were offbase and incorrect - and subsequently all later interpretations and re-interpretations too...

Voice,
You need a lesson on reason. The gospels are very specific and are totally true. You are again mistaken. It is sad that at your age, You are unable to read and understand what You have read. I would be glad to assist you when you are ready for a dose of GOD'S TRUTH. Let me know when...
Thanks,
Eds

When viewed as a history book their is much to learn. It is the false pretense of it being the work of the Devinne that diminishes it while under examination. If this problem were to be rectified. We would all be better off.

ur wrong there isnt inconsistency, just some things that are mentioned in one gospel isnt mentioned in another, or as u should know every one views events from a different angle or perspective, so they wrote what they saw in their own angle and perspective.

The church had it's own agenda when it complied and altered the books of the bible.

Can you tell me where the message is different? Or do you know or care what the message is?
