I was raised STRICTLY Baptist until I was 12 and my mother died. I lived less than a block from our church, which my grandfather helped build, so we were there literally all the time. Although my grandma attended the same church and still made me go when I moved in with her, I stopped believing in the ridiculous religion for obvious reasons.
Although I respect religions that help people maintain peaceful, moral lives, I am completely apathetic towards the whole thing. I just dont care. At all. I mean, I feel I'm a fairly good person. I recycle, donate blood, do tons of volunteer work, support troops (not the "war"), I'm polite and respectful to other human beings, Im a good mother, i'm not a sIut by any means, and I do all sorts of other neat things. . . but as far as religion? I just dont care. Do any of you feel the same way? Do any of you just not care?

I think i'm going to start my own religion called "Apathism".
You can join it or not. I dont really care.

:)

"apathetic" is spelled right. "apathism" just isnt a word, so of course it's spelled wrong. :)

GMJr. - See where I mentioned I was all for religion getting people to lead peaceful lives? That doesnt include you. You're clearly one of those angry religious people who believes terrifying people into worship will get them on the right path. You are whats wrong with the world. And why are you so angry? Huh? Why would a human being, who clearly seems to be so in touch with god, a loving god at that, be so angry? Missing something? Life not all it's cracked up to be? What is it honey? Tell me. Tell me all about what god isnt doing for you nowadays.

organized religion is not good because each religion is man made.. and mankind screws everything up!! Having faith and believing in the Father and Jesus Christ is all that's necessary. There's no need to only eat fish on certain days, or only wear certain clothes. God didn't make those rules up, man did. And excuse me, but no MAN/WOMAN is going to tell me how I need to live my life.. just God can do that and actually have me obey Him.

Religion=Bad
Faith=Good

Please don't hate God because you got thrown into a baptist family.. give Him a shot and He'll getcha on the right path :)

Yes. Too much coruption, too much judgement. I have spent most of my life in the bible belt in a big city that is run by a large church. Religion is man made and it's goal to spread. This is true for most religions. I grew up Baptist and always took flack for being a goth. I have since gone the route of deism (just as our forefathers did) and it put a whole new perspective on things. Organized religion is definitely not for me.

i understand your way of thinking completely. i was raised strictly catholic but i found too many rules that seemed man-made and not what i believed got wanted. i believe in bits and pieces of many religions. i think religion is a way for people to find comfort in knowing they have a purpose and there is something else out there. but if you don't need this way of comfort, then that's okay too. i think that all that's important is to be a good person and follow what you believe is right. no one should have to follow any religious rules

Religion doesn't matter. It's faith that is important. I hope you still have yours.

OK, all the Christians who are nasty to sincere posters like Jani, please give her a break. Apathy is not atheism (I don't think) and we need to set an example by NOT being nasty since we are supposed to be Christians. This just gives ammunition to others.
