Yes, humans can actually get tapeworms from a cat or dog, but it is EXTREMELY rare. You either have to swallow a flea carrying a tapeworm that was on your pet (and the odds of that happening are ridiculously low). Or, if your cat crapped out a tapeworm larvae (from an infected flea it swallowed - and of course not every flea carries a tapeworm, just like not every tick carries Lyme disease), and the cat steps in it and tramps around the house, there MAY be a SLIGHT chance that you could pick up the larvae by touching a surface the cat might have walked on - but this is just as ridiculously improbable. In any case, make sure you wash your hands a lot and keep your cat's litter box clean. Keep your house clean if your cat has been vomiting from the tapeworm infection. Also be careful leaving your cat at the vet's or animal clinic for an extended period of time too, as fleas on other pets there can jump onto your cat and infect him.

If this was tapeworms, it's impossible even for your other cats to get them from this cat. Tapes can only be caused by your cat digesting a flea that has the tapeworm eggs. They are not contagious. You give one Droncit tab (get from Vet, or an online pet supplier) for a cat approximately 10 pounds and under. Over ten pounds = 1 1/2 tablet. Some Vets recommend giving it again in three weeks, but this is up for grabs. If you want to be sure, then wait three weeks and give another dose. When one cat has tapes, the others cats don't necessarily get them, unless they have digested a flea with eggs. So, you can either treat all your animals or wait until they show signs. Either way, you'll be OK. What you saw was a segment, not the actual worm. You cannot get worms from your cats, so don't worry.

Tapeworms are tricky little parasites living in the intestines of its host. If you don't contain and dispose of your cat's waste properly then it is possible for the parasite to find a new host.
Take your cat to the vet ASAP to get prescriptions to kill the tapeworm before it multiplies.

ONLY if you eat them. The odds of an adult human ingesting one by accident are pretty small, but kids can and do put stuff in their mouths so if they ingested one that hadn't died once it was out of the cat or dog, then yes they could get it in them.
But all tapeworms can be treated for, they're easily gotten rid of.

lol...First of all I can't see how a cat could get a tapeworm nowadays...especially as an indoor cat. Other worms especially round worms are more common. Also "ringworm" which isn't a worm at all but a fungus akin to athletes foot. While all this talk about worms and catching things from cats is the stugg urban legends are made from....I'm sorry to dissapoint..but this isn't how the the life cycle of a tapeworm commences. As another commentor mentioned...you must first ingest larvae or eggs of a parasite before it can get it's teeth into your digestive track, literally. Unless you share literboxes or groom your cat with YOUR mouth and tongue......ummm, not much chance of getting any type of worms from your animal.

Many worms can indeed find a human host to be a very happy place to live, yes.
The most important thing is to avoid contact with your cats feces and of course, get your cat wormed.

YES! Take your cat to the vet to get some antibiotics, it is much cheaper to get antibiotics for a cat then it is for a human.
I hope this info helps. Good luck!
