It's needed to calculate the right release setting for the binding. "release" is when the binding pops open when under high stress - for example from a fall. A heavier person puts more regular stress through the binding when skiing properly, so needs a higher release point than a lighter person of the same height.

Or to put it another way...if heavy person and a light person ski with the release setting that is right for the light person, then the heavy person's ski bindings will constantly pop open.

If they both ski with the setting that is right for the heavy person, then the light person's skis will not release if they fall...which can end up with a really nasty knee surgery!

They use the height, weight, and ability that you put on the form to determine the size of the skis and also for the settings of the bindings, called DIN setting.

Taller and heavier people usually are given longer skis. Also people with better ability are given longer skis.

If the weight is off by 5-10 pounds or so or the height is off by a couple inches then it isn't too big a deal.

When you rent the skis the adjust something on the ski.
This is how easy the boot goes off the ski when you fall so you don't break your leg.
The height is so that they can give skis of the correct length.
I don't know what the weight has to do with how easy the boot goes off but there must be a reason.

If you lie about your weight and you fall you could break your leg. Also, if you don't have the right weight on the form, they will give you the wrong skis and then you could crash because you are out of control. If you crash, you could die.

So to make a long story short...if you lie about your weight you can die.

Also...the ski techs know women ALWAYS lie about their weight, so if you lie, they will just add 20 lbs to what you wrote. They can usually tell your weight just by looking at you.

You put your weight and height so they can give you skis that are compatible with you. For instance (not you) if you're 8 foot tall and weigh 400 pounds you don't want skis designed for a person thats 5 foot tall and 100 pounds, you won't go anywhere

THE REASON THEY DO IT THIS WAY IS BECAUSE FIRST THE WEIGHT DOES MATTER IF YOU WEIGH A LOT THEN WHEN YOU SKATE YOU CAN FALL AND HURT YOURSELF OR JUST MAYBE BRAKE SOMETHING IN YOUR BODY THIS IS WHY HEIGHT I DON'T KNOW BUT THE WEIGHT I TOLD YOU THAT'S WHY? WELL LATER
