I disagree. Prejudice comes in all colors and I for one will never apologize because of my skin color, nor will I give you and special treatment because of yours.

The original question boiled down to "do we still need racial equality laws on the books"

The answer chosen as BEST was basically "h*ll yes we need them, everyone is still a racist pig"

Considering that the most inflamitory, one-sided answer was chosen, I'd say it wasn't the BEST.

My answer: Discrimination is alive and well (not just racism), so the laws need to stay. There has been good progress and it's very encouraging that there are people who's experience leads them to believe racism is a thing of the past. Unfortunately, groups like the skin-heads,
and those more subtle, will always exist. Free will includes the freedom to be an intolerant idiot, that's where the laws come into play.

Here's the question: If Ron Paul succeeds in getting rid of all anti segregation laws how will that not affect minorities?

Ron Paul won't win, but if a future president and Congress (and states and localities) got rid of all anti-segregation laws, some discrimination would come back, but much less than the civil rights activists would guess. Why? Notwithstanding your best answer choice, we are a far less racist people than we were in the Fifties.

I think racism is an equal opportunity employer these days. Sure there are white people who are prejudiced, Just as surely there are black, brown, yellow, red, and whatever color people come in who are every bit as prejudiced as any grit-eating cracker from Alabama.

The only people affected by those laws these days are white males, an ever-dwindling population with less and less power each day. It's time for the laws to go away. The playing field ls level, it's just time for all to actually play on it instead of standing on the sidelines whining about not getting in the game.

the sole secular reason to disallow gay marriage is homophobia and prejudice. "No team has the main suitable to redefine marriage. No activist choose has the main suitable to redefine it." -Marriage is a build. It has developed in definition over the years. it is going to alter even with no count number if or no longer there are homophobes or homosexuals. "If those Christians (as a team) had no perfect to redefine marriage, ought to we roll it decrease back to what it used to point?" provided that i may be retroactively rewarded a dowry as quickly as redefinition is common. a pair of yaks could be advantageous.

I agree with bikermog. As long as we insist on making race an issue, it will be an issue. Maybe someday skin color will be viewed like hair and eye color, another benign genetic trait.

i disagree with the answer choosen, but then what do you expect. the asker choose the answer he wanted to hear, the answer that best suited his outlook.
i believe the beginning of the end for racism will be when we no longer ask what race people are. as long as we are required to list our race, there will be people who will make distinctions based on color and not values.

Best answer is in the eyes of the questioner. Would you give best answer to someone that agreed with you or opposed you? Anyway, I guess my answer to your question is, I don't care. I don't agree with the questioner or the answer.

In general, I agree with the answer and the statements in the original question.

And yes, you will find prejudice in all ethnicities, but prejudism is not always racism.

Their are no people more racists than Mexicans, you can tell by their refusal to assimilate to this country, and flying their own flags, it just isn't white people, blacks are just a racists they can get away with calling our guys white boys, but if we say black boy then we are racists. Give me a break all races are racists they would rather be around their own kind. I am sick of people just saying white people are racists. But I do agree Ron Paul has no chance.
