It would depend on what you paid in. The amount you get back is just returning your overpayment if you overpaid, not some kind of bonus you get from the government. It's more like getting change at the grocery store if you buy $15 worth of items and give them a $20 bill - the $5 you get back is just returning your money.

You'd need to provide much more information for anyone to even hazard a guess.

It depends. How much you and your wife put into the system. If you claim just yourself and 1 dependent, your wife claims and with all your Schedule A deductions it could be very nice. But to get a "round" number you need to contact a professional or buy a tax program...like Tax Cut or H & R block.

Go pick up an IRS form and fill it out in draft form. The amount you might get back depends on so many factors (e.g., how many dependents did you claim for your withholding? did your wife earn money? will you be filing as a couple? will you try to itemize your deductions? do you have any capital gains or losses? did you pay state/local taxes that can be deducted?) that it can't be answered with just what you have provided.

No way to tell from that info. How much was withheld? What are your itemized deductions? How much did you put into the 401k and same questions for your wife?

Why don't you get a blank 1040A from irs.gov and fill it in.
Or use 1040es and estimate it.
