Are you aware that there is just as much evidence proving that evolution occurs as there is that gravity exists? How do you reconcile all the observations of evolution occurring with your belief that it doesn't occur. I'm asking because I don't really understand how a person decides to trust an old book over their own senses.

Side question: If the Bible said that the sky is not blue, would you believe it, or would you believe your own eyes?

Maybe some of you don't know what I mean when I say that evolution is observable. I mean that you can go into a laboratory with a self contained reproductive population of whatever species you like, wait a few generations and compare the resulting population to the original population. The populations will differ. This is evolution. It has been observed many, many, many times.

I think I need to re-emphasize this, since a lot of people still seem to be denying that evolution occurs. People have actually sat down and watched it occur. There is absolutely no doubt that it happens. I have watched it occur. If you wanted to see it for yourself (instead of making a fool out of yourself by denying it), it would be fairly easy to do. I recommend that you go out and get maybe 50 fruit flies. Put them all together. Measure some of the traits of the population. Wait for them to reproduce through several generations. Measure the same traits again. You will notice differences in the measurements. You will have observed evolution, just as you can observe a rock falling under the influence of gravity. Evolution is a fact and gravity is a fact.

Actually it has more proof than gravity. It is just harder to see. It is the best supported theory in science.

Edit: For people like Helen, go back and learn what the term theory means in science before you look foolish.

Darwin's error was to minimize his own human frailty. Overlooking the limitations of his own senses and mind, and ignoring the inevitable human tendency to become illusioned and make mistakes, he cheated the public by claiming as fact that which could only be tentative hypothesis. To find the conclusive explanation of the origin of species, we must approach a source of knowledge which is beyond the imperfections of our tiny brains. In his diary, Darwin admits "a constant tendency to fill up the wide gaps of knowledge by inaccurate and superficial hypotheses." This suggests that Darwin's theory, however well it may explain his collected data, rests merely on circumstantial evidence. Neither Darwin nor anyone since has directly observed a transition from one species to another. No one has ever seen a parent from one species give birth to an offspring initiating a new species. Another thing is how does life display such a varied gradation of organisms, from the most simple amoeba to the complex human being? The best Darwin could do was claim that such an event must have happened in the past. He felt this was the only way to explain his observations.
A few quotes from the scientists themselves will reveal Darwin's theory for what it is—an unscientific claim to satisfy the minds of atheistic men:
"The fossil record does not tell us how fishes came into existence…we can only guess as to the way in which the first fishes originated." (Url Lanham, The Fishes)
"The origin of the birds is largely a matter of deduction. There is no fossil evidence of the changes through which the remarkable change from reptile to bird was achieved." (A.J. Marshal, Biology and Comparative Physiology of Birds)

Evolution has never been observed anywhere in nature. And you cannot use examples of what you call "micro-evolution" (which is really just variation within a kind) to prove "macro-evolution", or changes between kinds. It just doesn't work. There are over 250 breeds of dog. That's a given, and I don't know anyone who would deny that. That's called "variation within a kind", and is biblically supported. That is all we ever see, all that is ever observed. But to go one step further and say that somehow that proves that the dog and the cat had a common ancestor, you have now moved out of observable science into fantasy, religion, science fiction. You can breed dogs until the cows come home, and you will ALWAYS get some kind of dog, 100% of the time. It will never, ever become a squirrel, or a tomato, or a horse. There is a "black box" around each biblical "kind" outside of which no change can occur, and changes within the kinds are limited. Evolutionists would believe that these variations are unlimited. Farmers have been breeding pigs for thousands of years. So how come they don't have a pig the size of Texas by now? Horse breeders have been breeding faster horses for races for thousands of years also. So how come they don't have a racehorse that can go 100 mph yet? See, there are limits.
Mutations do occur, but they are either destructive (like a two-headed calf) or neutral (like eye or fur color). However, in both cases, they are still operating on information that is already in the DNA. No new information is ever added. You can get all kinds of colors of horses by selective breeding, but you will NEVER get a horse with wings. That would be information that is not in the horse's genetic code, and will never get there, even by mutation. However, mutation might cause a squirrel to have 100 eyes, like in the Simpson's Movie, but that's because the squirrel already has information for an eye. It's simply been repeated, and the animal is still a squirrel. It didn't turn into a bat.
Evolution is physically and scientifically impossible. Everything you know about evolution comes from science fiction movies and television. Even evolutionary scientists themselves admit privately that there's no empirical evidence to support their theory.

There has never been one transitional fossil found, ever! If evolution was fact, then all of the millions of fossils that have been found for the last 250 years or so, there would of been at least a few transitional fossils. A transitional fossil would be - for example: say a fish turned into a salamander. We have found the fossils of the fish, and the salamander, but WHERE are the fossils of the transitions from fish to salamader. If this "evolution" was so prevalant, where are the fossils of the fish with a salamader tail.

As a matter of fact, there is more concrete evidence that evolution is false, and that creatures are nearly entirely stable, with only the mildest of slight adaptation to environments. There is also a great deal of evidence to prove that this world is not millions or billions of years old, but merely thousands. The earth strata theory has many, many holes in it. Carbon dating is a farce, and has NEVER been proven.

So, to sum it all up -- It is all just THEORY, which has been falsely made fact by an atheistic, modernistic rational world that will except no substitute. Kids in schools are taught that evolution is fact, and not creation. So, it is bread into us from the time we are young that we are spawned from monkeys. Evolution, along with the belief that the world is billions of years old, is one of the biggest falsities ever taught to the world.

Oh, and by the way, your "fruit fly" example is hardly evolution, but genetics. Show me the fruit fly turning into a bird and then you may have something. That might be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

There is no evidence that evolution occurs. When life is created, it must be created from the genes available from the two parents or in cases of a-sexual reproduction, the same genes remain. Gravity had be proven because it has been tested and those tests can be repeated.
There are no four legged fish like the Darwinians like to place on their cars in mockery of Christianity. I see gravity in action and can prove it exists. I've never seen any credible evidence that evolution exists.
Of course, as soon as some creature gives birth to a different species, let me know and I'll recant.

When you were growning up did you always believe everything that your parents told you? Probably not, you had to make your own decision, right or wrong, and then learn from that. You had to grow from experience, time, and the knowledge that you gained as you grew, and applied in your life as you learned it. Your view point probably has changed about certain things as you grew physically and mentally.

If you had been smart maybe some of the things that they tried to tell you about, you listened to. Maybe it saved you some grief as you lived your life or stopped you from having some problem that you might have had if you didn't listen.

Your parents have lived longer than you and have gained a lot of experience becoming wise in many things that you may not have even encountered yet. No doubt they have seen a lot of things in their life time.

The bible does the same thing for us because it is an old book. There are Bible accounts from many people who lived long before we did and were eye witnesses of the accounts listed in the Bible. These accounts were put there for our benefit so that we can learn from them. There were many bible writers living at different periods of time that when compared are in complete agreement. There are Bible prophecies that were foretold hundreds of years in advance that were so clearly identified it is impossible to disregard them. See the link below:

Why You Can Trust Bible Prophecy

For centuries the Bible has endured criticism and attack. Time and again the Bible text has been vindicated. When the Bible touches on history, health, and science, its accounts have repeatedly been proved reliable. Its advice regarding human relations is trustworthy and timeless. Human philosophies and theories, like so much green grass, sprout and then wither over time, but the Word of God “will last to time indefinite.”—Isaiah 40:8.

The teaching of evolution is not limited to the realm of scientific theory. It is a human philosophy that blossomed and then flourished for decades. In recent years, however, the traditional evolutionary teaching of Darwin has itself evolved—in fact, mutated—as efforts have been made to explain away the increasing evidence for design in the natural world. We invite you to examine this topic further. You can do so by reviewing the other articles in this issue. In addition, you may also want to read the publications shown on this page.

“Ask, please, the domestic animals, and they will instruct you; also the winged creatures of the heavens, and they will tell you. Or show your concern to the earth, and it will instruct you; and the fishes of the sea will declare it to you.”—JOB 12

Give me some 'obvious examples'
What is being observed is the reassembling of existing genetic information-the species stays the same and never does it develop into something different other than a different kind of the species it was to begin with.
You would like to pass that off as 'macro-evolution'but that has never been observed,it's just the propagation of the atheistic creation myth, otherwise known as wishful thinking.

Because evolution isnt something we can see happening for ourselves, or in our lifetime. Yes there is MUCH more evidence on it than say ... 'women coming from mans rib' but well evolution implies the words theyve been dedicated to for all their life is wrong. Others are ignorant and/or arrogant they think its an insult to call them 'monkeys.'

Ignorance is bliss.

Whats even funnier is that you people believe we evolved from nothing. And became a self contained plantet that works in perfect harmony with the universe. Now thats amazing.
