Well officially only the French make Champagne all others sparkling varieties have their own special names too. If you like a really sweet sparkling wine try: Grand Sidra Real it is a lovely treat from Brazil or Lemonchello from Italy - available in most markets you can get Asti Spumante (all under $10) but be sure to get a "Brut" the others can be a bit high in tannin taste. For a more sophisticated sweetness better suited for dining you can go with Mumm (blue label) or Gloria Ferrer (gold label) both are under $20 but taste like the run over $50. Dom Perignon is nice but over rated the high cost is because it is an import and not because of superior taste. Hope I gave you some good choices. Cheers!

Asti Spumante- it's not a brand, but a type of bubbly white wine. SUPER sweet. Martini and Rossi make a pretty cheap Asti, that my wife seems to enjoy. I can't drink it, too sweet.

Martini and Rossi Asti Spumanti is the absolute best! It's not truly a champagne, but a sparkling wine. It looks like champagne, but most people use it for champagne drinking occasions (it's much better than champagne!)

the sec and demi sec response was good, brut will not be your thing if you want sweet.
Asti is NOT a brand, but it is what your looking for, a sparkling wine from italy, anything called asti is going to be sweet, the best I have found is "Mondoro" it blows Martini & Rossi's version out of the water. "Nando" is another commonly available asti and is on par with martini rossi.

Asti is the brand. And Spumante is the sweetest of the ones we have tried. You can also cut up a few strawberries and put the slices in the Champagne while drinking it. Adds a nice taste.
