You do not need a specific turkey barrel, that is more or less a cheap way of grabbing more cash from you. You can make out fine with just a normal shotgun barrel with a fairly tight choke pattern.

You can use a full choke with whatever shot gun you have. I shoot a 870 and killed plenty of birds with a full choke. Although I did purchase an extra full turkey choke and extend my pattern an extra 10 yards. The choke was maybe 10 or 15 bucks and that is worth it for me. Now the 100 or more for a new barrell sounds like a bit of a waste personally. Oh make sure you pull that extra full choke before you try and shoot steal shot. Other wise you will be buying a new barrell. The steal warped my choke and firmly stuck it to the barrell. Expensive oops!

just use a full choke with premium turkey ammo. Its expensive for some 3" or 3 1/2" mags, but well worth it. Use just a few to get lined in, then use only for hunting. A box should last a while since most turkey on downed with a single shot.

Full or Extra full Choke, and regular 2 3/4 size shotgun shell will harvest a Turkey just fine.*

i was using full choke on my Benelli but compared it to my cousin who shoots the same gun. we patterned mine then his using a Kicks Gobblin THunder turkey choke..they are about 65 bucks and worth every cent. the on target percentage improves by over 30 % no lie. I like usuing Winchester Supreme 3" number 5s in a turkey load you can pay more but i have dropped um at 50 yards graveyard dead. I used to have great luck with the Mossberg spitting 3.5" number 4's and the Mossberg extra full factory choke tube. good patterns out to 50 yards and the target stand bucked like it got hit by a land mine...

I would shoot a full choke if your barrel is interchangeable. But at the least use magnums even if you have a bigger choke. i.e. wider pattern. 4 shot is perfect. watch the recoil because they kick like a mule.
