JOHN W asked for Jews to answer his post which enquired which of the 'prophecies' in the 'old' testament/Tanakh Jesus fufilled. About eight Jews gave accurate, polite and logical answers.
JOHN W then gave 'best response' to a Christian who utterly dismissed the Jewish interpretation of THEIR OWN BIBLE.

Does this make sense to me? Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this is madness? It's like me asking for Hindus to please explain something about their faith - and then ignoring them and listening instead to someone not even of that religion!

As a Jew myself, can I ask you honestly: is there ANY point in me answering queries about my religion when over and over again, the askers often ignore the accurate, Jewish responses?!!!

FRED S - are you joking? OF COURSE I don't care about 'best answer' - you have TOTALLY missed the point!!!
What I'm saying is that some Christians are using other Christians as an authority on Judaism!! It is very aggravating to constantly see my religion being misrepresented and then the person doing that being seen as 'authentic' !!!

'messianic jews' = Christians.
They are not Jews.
It is impossible to belong to both faiths.

AMDG - no, Christianity is NOT a Jewish faith. Christianity CONTRADICTS all the core Jewish beliefs. I have every respect for Christians, but the two religions are not linked any more.

Dear PB,

Since you said that you have every respect for Christians, I suggest you ignore what people like John W said. What do you expect him to do? Renouncing his own belief by agreeing whatever you believe? Sometimes people post questions here just to confirm their own thoughts by seeing how many people agree with them.

Christianity contradicts all the core Jewish belief? Do you honestly think so? Well, think again. The Bible both connects and separates Judaism and Christianity. Connect, because both faiths share the similar Hebrew Bible. Separate, because they have different interpretation of it, especially the Messiah issue.

Please visit these two links. They are quite long, but worth reading. Shalom.

Well, I can tell you when I was being raised as a Christian, they taught us that Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament, which they also taught was EXACTLY the same as the Torah, and it wasn't until I went to college and actually met Jews (I happened to go to a predominantely Jewish school) that I ever even heard the Old Testament and the Torah were not, in fact, identical. That was one of the first eye-openers for me about Christianity. So, I will say that it's heavily indoctrined that the Old Testament and Torah are the same thing and it may be more than the asker can accept to hear they aren't.

Having said that, it doesn't make any sense to me at all, but I've seen this with questions posted that are "supposedly" directed towards other faiths as well. The types of Christians who ask these questions just want their own viewpoints and opinions validated - they don't really want to hear which prophecies weren't fulfilled by Jesus, they want someone to validate their belief that Jesus fulfilled them all. What the Torah actually says matters much less to them than feeling they are right in what they believe.

Very sad.

PB, of course it doesn't make sense. But sense, common or otherwise, is in very short supply here. I have given up answering questions like that with a well-thought-out serious answer, because it's futile. I find it so ironic that before I started coming here, I had no animosity or dispute with any Christian person that I had ever met. After being here for a while, I mostly feel just the opposite. I think these Christians are their own worst enemies. They are supposed to "spread the Gospel" but they do such a poor job of it that they end up doing the opposite -- turning us away from Christianity and becoming even more adamant and secure of our Jewish faith. I don't think Jesus would be very happy with how they are carrying out his message. There's also a sense of superiority and arrogance about their answers which is again ironic as this is what Jews are accused of here. Go figure! At this point in my life (I'm 60), I've figured out that life is too short to be listening to people whom you know only wish you ill and don't really care about you and what you believe unless you believe just as they do.

Be Good, always. ...Common-sense... It's a rare commodity... *The 5 physical senses: Seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, and touching. Believe it or not, all five of the physical senses will allow a human being to feel. All 5 of the physical senses may interact within the framework of human consciousness. *The seven states of human consciousness: 1. Unarvu - feeling 2. Unarchi - awareness 3. Puthi - Intellect 4. Madhi - Judgment 5. Arivu - Subtle Wisdom 6. Pahuth Arivu - Divine Wisdom 7. Perr Arivu - Divine Luminous Wisdom All human beings may possibly have access to the, five physical senses. All human beings do have access to the, "Seven States of Consciousness". A human being must strive diligently to access all "Seven States of Consciousness", for this is the true birth-right bestowed upon each and every human being. Hopefully that makes some 'sense'... Peace be always with you. Meechum Anbu (Much Love) in sha'Allah al-hamdu lillah Salaams,

Im a christian and id agree the above sounds wronge, John W sounds like he is either ignorant or trying to be insultive, either way i would have to ask him to get a true idea on his motives and feelings, it is wronge for me to just assume, when all i know is the one side of the spectrum.

Even though it in basis it insultive to many im sure, u cannot say the jews actually no better, it is always possible for a nobody aethiest to be more corect then either a jew or even a christian on his/her own bible.

Just saying your a christian or jew or islam, doesnt make u a expert or all knowing and always better then a non christian/jew/islamic when compairing answers.

However logic would say the person who likes or enjoys something knows more then a person who dislikes, because a person who dislikes something will prefer to avoid and not know anything about it, while a person who likes wants to know more and be around it more, wether its religion or simply a car.

So end reasoning for me either way is JOHN W made a non polite action and in the event no jew gave him a answer he felt good enough, he should of just left it blank.

Paperback, glad to see that you are still up and about. For awhile there I had begun to fear that the Evil Cyberlords had cast you in durance vile. My own response to this latest question? Well I've been browsing some best answers for the heck of and noticed one thing, and this is not only in the religion and spirituality area, it seems to be pretty much across the board. There are a great many people here to seem to be looking for only specific answers they agree with. So naturally they are going to select the best answer that suits their own way of thinking and bolsters their ideas. Anyway that's my take on it. Have a happy.

I didn't see the question, but it doesn't sound like it made much sense.

I don't understand why someone would ask a Jew to comment on Jesus. I am well aware that Jewish people do not view Him as messiah, with the exception of "Messianic Jews" which is term other Jewish people don't like anyway, because the ones referred to with that phrase are actually Christians.

I am a Christian, and I do believe that Jesus is the Messiah predicted by the Jewish prophets, but I wouldn't ask someone who doesn't believe that to explain it to me, it seems to me that would be like asking a Christian to explain how Jesus was not the Messiah. All its going to do is insult people.

I so agree with you! Just like in this forum. Many people feel the need to raise a loaded question about religion or politics, for which they already have a bias opinion, and are simply looking for like-minded people to agree with them - pat their back or fulfill their preconceived but uneducated conclusions.

I'm sure you know what I mean.

Paperbac, do you remember when I asked: "Why do so many people hate Jews?... It breaks my heart! ", which you had answered so perfectly? My question was reported and deleted. If it means anything, my intention was to choose yours as best answer.

I sympathise with you .

Often the answer with the most Thumbs down gets the Best answer Just because it supports Christian doctrine.

Maybe Yahoo could block an answer from being Chosen as Best if it got too many Thumbs Down ?

btw You are allowed to post a Comment about the best answer once it has been Chosen .

Actually it does make sense. Many people are not really looking for answers, they are simply looking for validation and agreement for their own beliefs. It's not easy to say that I don't agree with you but you gave the best answer to the question asked, especially if it goes against everything you believe. All you can do is be honest regardless and ignore the madness that comes from Yahoo! or leave. Don't leave though, lol.
