In essence, what John has written is pretty much correct. The Presbyterians tend to believe that God decides ahead of time who will and will not come to Christ, whereas the Baptists believe that God does not decide ahead of time, but instead that God knows what we will choose to do.
From the Presbyterian viewpoint, one could liken it to a teacher who decides to reward the three best students in a classroom, consults her grade book and then labels three boxes appropriately. Then enters a room full of children and announces that the children with the three highest grades may come forward and receive the box. The teacher has chosen some and excluded others.
A simple Baptist analogy would be that a teacher throws a party for her class. After the party, she asks students to stay later and help clean up and that there will be a reward for those who do. The teacher probably knows which students will stay behind and which ones won't. Still, it is the child who makes the decision.
