we are claiming our mileage for my husbands job this year...does anyone know what it is per mile and how this will help...

First, did your husband turn in any of the mileage to work? If he was allowed to and didn't, there is no other way to claim it.

If he does have unreimbursed business expenses, he would fill out form 2106 and transfer the total to the schedule A. The total for all business expenses is reduced by 2% of your AGI.

For NON-COMMUTING business miles, the rate is 48.5 cents.

48.5 cents a mile for business miles. The rate is lower for medical travel miles .
