EXACTLY
Eternal life would eventually render all things meaningless.
It never ceases to amaze me that people find meaning in this life, trying to attain eternal life that would end up making life meaningless.
Eternal living would eventually be a prison of malaise and boredom whether you spent it being tortured by god or worshiping him. Either way there would be no achievement, success, happiness, or joy.
I don't understand why people are willing to bet this life in the hopes of attaining eternal life in a heaven that they know precious little about, and that 1/3 of the angels already rejected as not suitable.
Why are believers so flippant about eternity whether it results in torture or praise?

You ask a question and then you give the answers. Plus your concept of heaven is flawed in my opinion. To have everything given to you is not living in joy. It is living in darkness. If you are referring to heavenly life, as in right now being alive. There is purpose to that, people who live in a heavenly life can see the light through the darkness. If you lead an alternative life or have an alternative belief then you see the light through medication, constant counseling, and rationalization.
So what makes you assume that because you are an atheist that only you have a purpose in life? Don't wrap your atheist brain too much around what gives theists strength. Just do your own little thing and be content with that.
Edit:
I can only imagine what atheists would say if a theist posted such a question.
"You have no idea what atheism is"
"You are making a strawman assumption"
"What atheist don't have a purpose unless they believe in God?"
Please think before you post such questions.

I know that I have a purpose and will not leave this earth until what I was sent here to do is accomplished. I almost died one time, but I am still here. I think we would not be happy here if we knew deep down that we did not have a purpose, especially to help others is fulfilling. Being in heaven will be manified a billion times more than what we experience here on earth.

I COMPLETELY agree with you.
This whole idea of heaven, once carefully considered and thought out is ridiculous.
It's a dream that doesn't even make sense in the 21st century.
From the perspective of a fearful band of goat tenders, I can understand the idea, but they had a lack of even the most fundamental concepts of science - eternity is a long time.
Honestly, if you think about the idea it doesn't make sense. (but that isn't really surprising is it? coming from a work of fiction).

obviously we give our lives purpose.
im an atheist. many have said that my life has no purpose. obviously they have no idea.
i give my life purpose as adoes everybody else...
sure some may feel that their life doesent seem to have a purpose or direction but in time they will find one. the idea that your life and its purpose and direction are predetermined is idiotic to me. divine purpose is preposterous.
the only predetermined or precognant purpose i can think of is your mother and father talking about what theyd like you to do with your life...or any family member for that matter...
but a magical man in the sky? johnny thinks not!

There can be no purpose in an accidental universe.
If we are not purposely created there is no point

It is your perception that enternal heavenly life is purposeless, with everything provided.
That does not make it so.
