I don't know if it's the same now, but back when I signed up, you had up to 1 year from the time you enter DEP until you shipped out for boot camp. For me, I spent 3 weeks in DEP.

Everything depends on which branch you are joining, which MOS you choose, and when they want to send you. Of course, all this takes place before the oath, so you are not yet locked in, and can do a little give-and-take with it.

I went Navy and was in DEP for 6 months. Some other guys I shipped out with had been in DEP for 2 weeks, some for almost a year. You'll find out.

I'm all for a quicker turn-around, for 3 reasons:

1. DEP doesn't pay that well...you're paid nothing and it doesn't count as time-in-service.
2. Just go get boot camp over with and have it done.
3. Your recruiter will bug you for referrals until the day you leave.

You mean after taking the ASVAB and physical? It can be from one day to a year. it depends on when slots are available vs. when you want to ship.
