Yijinjing is part of the Iron Shirt training. It strengthens the sinews, the connective tissue between the muscles and the bones, enhancing muscular strength.

The other part, Shii Suei Jing strengthens the bone marrow, the source of blood, which carries oxygen or "Qi" through your body. It is also extremely beneficial to the immune system, since it is part of the blood.

These two exercises still don't make up the complete Iron Shirt skill. Iron Shirt is something that has to be done under a proficient practitioner and should not be attempted on your own. Although, you can just learn, practice and benefit from Yijinjing.

Yi Jin Jing Benefits

Yi Jin Jing (ching) is translated into English as "sinew metamorphosis" which implies that this style actually employs the use of internal energy or "chi" for changes inside the body. I believe it is one of the ancient and more advanced schools of Shaolin monk martial arts. Some of the reputed benefits include vast improvement of physical strength, durability, and mental constitution/clarity. For example, some say that masters of this art are capable of taking down large beasts such as bulls with just one strike. Proper and repeated practice of Yi Jin Jing is said to give the practitioner a great lasting sense of peace and courage, less fear, anxiety, and anger, and tremendous internal force. However, I doubt I or anyone else can give you a proper timeline as to when or how you will notice these benefits. It is an individual pursuit like so many other feats. But rest assured, if you are faithful and dedicated in practice the benefits will be yours. It takes many, many years and patience. That is all I can probably offer.
