BEFORE you say stop being stupid...read the details....

I'm a swimmer. I swim 4x a week(unless its a holiday or i'm sick) for 2hrs a day. i also walk to the pool and back(about a mile round trip).

Like most of the girls on my team, i'm slight. UNLIKE most of them, i'm also very tall for a 14-and-under. I'm about 5'7-5'8 and maybe 140lb(give or take).

I don't stop going unless i'm really sick or hurt...so i'll show up when i've got an annoying cold or if my arm hurts a little.

I am NOT anarexoic! I do have trouble eating more than a small meal in a sitting, so i generally eat 4-5x a day to compensate for that.

Am i paticulary at risk for getting sick? I've read of something that can happen to female athleats that makes u really sick....

Sorry so long

I can't see how being athletic would make you sick. It would probably make you a healtier adult. Many people can't eat large meals so you are doing a good thing by splitting your meals up. There is nothing wrong with being muscular either which is probably why you weight 140. (muscle weighing more than fat). Keep at it! It will pay off when you are an adult. If you don't feel sick now then it is likely that you won't later.

Endurance is a GREAT thing! People try all their lives to get it but some can't. Passion and agility are great qualities! Keep at it!

Being athletic as a teenager is excellent in the long-run for your health, because people who build habits like yours at a young age are likely to hold true to those habits for life.

In the present, however, you do need to be careful not to push yourself too hard. Swimming is great because it doesn't put as much stress on the joints as other sports can, but you expend a LOT of energy while swimming, and if you are sick and you push yourself to continue exercising anyway and not giving your body time to rest, you are fighting AGAINST your immune system rather than with it.

So in short, use common sense. If your body is asking you to take a break, take the break. It's not worth pushing yourself to the limit and turning what was a mild cold into pneumonia.

There is nothing wrong with a girl who is interested in sports and participates at the age of 14.Just make sure you are well rested at all times and that you eat regularly even if it is 10 times a day. Your coach should teach you how to warm up properly and cover yourself with dry clothing when you are out of the pool. Don't let yourself get run down. This is what results in sickness..

As long as you don't push yourself to hard- a cold is ok, and so is your arm hurting a little, so long as your sure you haven't injured yourself seriously- you should be ok. Make sure you do keep eating pretty often, and watch your weight. If you put too much strain on yourself and train to hard, you can become malnourished, compromise your immune system and be more open to sickness, have more serious injuries, and take longer to heal. In extreme cases, when girls train too hard their periods stop.

As long as you don't push yourself too much. Stop if you feel sick or tired! Remember to take your vitamins and get enough sleep and visit your doctor regularly and you should be fine.

No! You sound very healthy to me. Just make sure you don't work yourself to death and maybe start taking suppliemental vitamins to make your immune system stronger.
