Many churches are changing their music forum to try to keep the younger crowd in church or to attract more. Look at the movie Sister Act.

...I believe all styles should be included. Biblically speaking, I cannot see a reason to exclude any style, since the Bible does not give a chosen style.
...I believe we should follow the Lord on the this one, use talented vocalists and musicians, and those who aspire to it; and I wouldn't try and shock anyone, just for the sake of shocking them. An earlier answer rightly says that older folks should be considered in the type of music that is played; indeed, all ages should be considered.
...I would also be very wary of volume levels; ear damage can result, and the purpose is to worship the Lord, not lose one's hearing, and not to have excessive sound levels which will drive away the elderly.

It depends on the mission that God has given the Pastor. Music is very powerful, and so this is a decision that will have to come from God through prayer. Also, it's good to observe your motive for wanting to change the music style. Only you and God know whether the motive is pure or not.

Most "Non Denominational" Churches do that it seems. It's an appropriate step towards drawing in the "younger crowd". I'm more of a traditional person myself. I prefer a more serious and somber approach to Christ. Electric guitars in Church is kinda silly.

Depends on what the membership wants and expects.
What most people fail to recognize is that Churches are really just social clubs, where people go to feel a sense of community and comfort.
When I was a Christian I would argue vehemently against this statement, but in honesty, there really is no way to defend against it.
Churches spend over 97% of income on existing membership, through mortgages and bills etc....The church leadership is usually accepted by the membership or kicked out by the membership. If a Pastor, Minister or Priest is not liked by the membership, he is typically given the boot or moved to another church. Community, is something that churches exist in, but rarely venture out into, unless to raise money....
Tough medicine, but accurate.
I attended evangelical churches, traditional churches, charismatic churches, and have found that the only difference between all these churches and my Golf club, is that my Golf club raised way more money for the community and for charity.
Thats the scary truth.

The chances of finding an entire congregation with the same tastes in music are a bit slim, I reckon. Older members may not like contemporary music, younger members may not like more classical music.

totally yes..i think..that what God wants...like He its boring..and many people think He is because of that music...ill say every music has it time..like the worship is necessary because we need to feel closer to Him...but let play some alternative rock for example at the beginning...ill say God is awesome and He has created all kinda music...lets give Him praise with all types of music styles...
