The relationship has been pretty bad for a while and everyone has told me to leave him as he's no good but I'm so scared of not having him around!

You may soon find out what you'll do without him....

Stick around & see this thru. Abandoning him right now would be a real b*it**ch thing to do.
UNLESS it was an immature stupid fight that was all his fault & that was what you disliked about him before Xmas Eve....
Then you have every right to walk out of the hospital & move on
If he lives, he's not likely to contact you again - he'll know why you left

Pray for him. There is enormous power in prayer; it's a proactive effort, and it relieves the feeling of helpless desperation. Nowdays it's easy to be dismissive of things like faith and prayer, but they have stood the test of time throughout human history, and I can think of no better time to familiarize yourself with this. I will do likewise in his behalf.

There is only a couple things you can do besides being there for him...be there for his family and pray for him. He will/would certainly appreciate both. Best wishes.

You will need to take time to grieve but you will survive. Just think positive and be there for him.
