My 2 point & shoot cameras have full manual control setting of aperture, shutter independantly. But I also have aperture/shutter priority. Is it Only the cameras that have aperture/shutter Priority that can have each independant of one another?

I understand about digital slrs. I have a Sony DSC-H2 and Fuji E900. They both have full manual control of shutter and aperture. Can point and shoots have this without aperture/shutter priority?

The cannon rebel isn't a point and shoot but it is the best deal if you want to do pictures like that. I have a film rebel as well has a digital point and shoot.

Can they have manual control without the automatic controls? Yes, they could. But do they? No they don't.

There's no reason not to include it--it's a simple mode to enact and it increases the utility of the camera to include automatic exposure modes like Program, aperture-preferred and shutter-preferred. Some cameras don't have manual control at all--they are either totally automatic and/or have some kind of automatic exposure system.

For those that include manual exposure, it's just a simple twist of the dial to go from an auto mode to a manual mode. So not including the automatic modes doesn't make a lot of sense, because it helps people to be happier with their cameras.
