The common cold is self-limited and runs its course in 7 to 10 days. If your symptoms continue beyond this time frame, it may not be a cold that you have. Perhaps its allergies causing this. I don't know why anyone would be so sure that you definitely have one or the other at this point.

Continue what you're doing and wait it out. You should know soon enough. And, your mother is quite wrong about what she's told you.

This ALWAYS helps me! It doesn't get rid of the cold, but it sure as heII makes me feel better! Get a popsicle, and eat it quickly. Not fast enough to give you brain freeze, but not slowly either. Then when the popsicle is gone, get some hot soup. The cold popsicle will numb your soar throat, and make all the mucus in the back of your throat cold and a little harder. Then the soup will relax your throat, leaving it feeling cozy, and the water in the mucus will melt leaving it much easier to blow out. You'll feel pretty good for about 3 or 4 hours if you continue to blow your nose as soon as anything gets into it. Another thing is to drink A LOT of water. That will help the mucus you have to get all runny so it'll drain or you can blow it out easier. Also, just sleep more. Your cold will go away faster. Good luck!

You sound to me like you don't have a cold at all. More than likely you are suffering from allergy's. There are many good over the counter products that can be purchased from a pharmacy or even a grocery store that will help you with your symptoms. Hope you feel better real soon! PS. some allergy meds can cause drowsiness which is good for night time use, but you will want a non-drowsy formula for day time, unless of course you want to sleep.

Well, if you have a common cold, there is no specific treatment for it. Just take decongestants to fight off the virus and alleviate some symptoms. Lots of water and rest are important too. You could also try some nasal sprays.

Your mother is probably right. It probably will just take a few more days. In the meanwhile, I'd suggest you go to a pharmacy and and tell the pharmacist--not a clerk--your symptoms and ask what the best stuff he/she has to help. It's probably a good idea to rest and drink liquids.

maybe you could try to stay inside for a day and just take it easy....stay in bed..eat soup...take a day off of work/school....take a warm bath......i have a cold as well but all these things has gradually helped me get better also try taking some of the Zicam tablets..they are nasty but they will immediatly clear up your head...

Wait another week and insist your mom take you to a doctor for your cold or flu.
