I installed my new sims games on the computer and right after i installed dthem i played for like 45 minutes and then saved and quit. Every time i put in the disk and double-click on the link, a screen comes up (for the sims) and i press play. I then get a window that pops up and says that there is no disk found in the drive. I did this multiple times and it stills says that there is no disk in the drive. Is this a problem with the disk or my computer? Either one can you please explain what I should do to fix this?! Please!!! I really want to play it!!!! Thank you so much for whoever answers it!!!! =]
Once you install the game you need to still keep the disk and use that also. I don't know why but that is what it says. I am using the right disk because it is an expansion disk and there is only one. I can't find the problem! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Have you checked your Autoplay options in your CD/DVD drive properties? Sometimes if Autoplay is set for a particular action to occur when a certain type of disk is inserted, can affect what happens when it is inserted.

For example: If you have Autoplay to start a music CD in Windows Media Player, then everytime you insert a music CD WMP opens and displays the contents of the CD, it doesn't open in My Computer or Computer (Vista), nor will it appear in any of the other media players that happen to be installed on your drive. You would need to open the other program first to have that CD open in that different player.

So, lets say you have Media Center in your Autoplay settings to open anything media related. When you insert any disk with media, Media Center should open and display the game.

If you have Autoplay set to "do nothing", then when you insert a CD/DVD into the drive, it does nothing and you must manually go into your drive, click on it, and then double click on any .exe or other executable file to run it. If it is data, music, video, you would have to double click on it to run it in your default program for that type of media.

You can set your default programs by Clicking on Start, selecting Default Programs, and then choose Change AutoPlay Settings. (Vista)

Open My Computer, right-click the icon for the drive you wish to change Auotplay settings for, and select Properties. (XP)

In the Properties dialog box, select the Autoplay tab. On this tab you make you selections for what you wish to default behavior to be for each type of media.

If nothing at all happens when you insert the game, you need to check if the drive itself is damaged. Try inserting different CD/DVDs and see if the drive works properly with those media types.

If it works with other media, then something is wrong with your game disk. For some reason your drive has stopped reading the contents of that particular disk. Take it back and exchange it for a new disk.

If other media does not display as it should, you could have a loose connection, or the drive may have failed all together.

To check for a loose cable, open the case, locate the cable, and ensure both ends are firmly pushed in and have a stong connection.

If it has a solid connection on both sides then the cable may be bad or damged. Buy a new cable and install it, and see if that corrects your issue.

If it doesn't, try installing a different CD/DVD drive. If you have a second computer, take out that drive and install it into your system, after you remove the one in question of course. lol

If it works with the other drive, then you need to buy a new drive.

If you do not have a second drive to try, you can do one of two options: Buy a second internal drive and see if that corrects the issue after you install it. Buy an external drive and see if that works.

While purchasing an external drive will not fix your current drives issue, I give you the option of an external drive because they are less expensive than internal drives. If you are short on cash, an external drive is a viable option until you can afford the more expensive internal one. Once you buy the internal one and replace it, you can then use the external as an additional drive, and copy disks straight across and perform other tasks that two drives allows.

I hope it is as simple as bad media the game is installed onto. That would be, by far, the most simple correction.

Good luck and much fun with your game once you get your issue fixed.

I'm not a computer whiz, but it's probably your disk drive. I had the same problem with an old computer, it just wouldn't read disks anymore. Call your computer company, they'll help you get a new Disk Drive. Sometimes I could take the cover off my tower, unplug my drive and plug it back in and it would magically work for a little while too.
