over the past month i have a LOT of strange dreams. usually i dont remember my dreams at all. most have involved my ex bf, who i broke up with 5 year ago and havent seen in about 4 years. usualy they are about him attacking me, or his family and him trying to kill me. last night i had a really weird dream about my dog almost drowning, and then immedially after that i had a dream about my ex trying to kill me again.

whats up with this? its waking me up all night long and its almost every night now. can i make it stop?

my ex and i dated for 5 years, but i ended it because he was emotionally and verbally abusive (and on a few occasions physically), so its not like i want him back or anything.

any reason as to why this would JUST start happening? i've been dating my current guy since 3 days after i broke up with my ex (so 5 years now, and no that wasnt planned, just kinda happened). and i've been engaged to this guy since august. things are good.
this past month has been horribly stressful, death of my best friends mom, finals, thought i failed a class (but didnt!), christmas... could it all just be stress? i thought i was having thyroid issues, but tests came back ok, my dr thinks i might be having anxiety attacks, cant find out until the 3rd tho.

I see you are in a new great relationship now and I do NOT want to discourage you or influence your thoughts in anyway, but this is only one possible interpretation to keep in the back of your mind..

I've read stories about women who dream of ex-boyfriends while dating, which the dreams actually showed them how they were similar (only a possibility, I don't want to ruin a relationship here). And the dreams were showing them traits/parts of their personality about how they were similar. However, you need to see for yourself if this is true or not, I have no say in this at all, as I barely know you.

The other possibility, which is MORE LIKELY: this stress is bringing back these possibly repressed emotions. Things/emotions that are deep within you that are coming out. They need to be felt and expressed because you most likely 'zoned out' when it happened. Denied it, did other things to distract you after the fact. But while these things happened with you ex, you must have repressed it somehow.

This dream is a sign that you need to move on. He is still dragging you down and weighing on your thoughts. Even if you are in a new relationship, you might still have some barriers up from when this guy hurt you. Anything that in any way pertains to what you went through with your ex is something you should have let go of by now.

I'm not saying to just get over it, because obviously it was a terrible experiencce. What I'm saying is that you need to release those burdens and truly be at peace with yourself. One you do that, these dreams should stop. Just relax. ^.^

You still have the negative affects of your relationship with your ex boyfriend affecting your dreams. He must have been abusive and controlling. You need to some how get over him and move on. But, that is not easy. Meditation/prayer, exercise, eating healthy, and not overindulging should help you get stronger spiritually. Your dog, your protecter, needs some strength from you also, so that this creature won't feel overwhelmed or drowning in this negative past energy you are coping with.
