I'm a black women. My hair was long and thick. But I have noticed that my hair has been falling out at the root. (not just breaking off- whole strands coming out.) I'm taking vitamins and have been greasying my scalp (although products always seem to give me a lot of dandruff). I'm healthy and not sick. Could it be the pomade I have been using. Any sugggestions?

NO, put the grease down!!! It will destroy your hair. Petroleum jelly and mineral oil is extremely bad for black hair!!!
Instead use natural oils such as jojoba oil, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, safflower oil, emu oil, carrot oil, grapeseed oil, almond, avocado oil..i used to do the same with grease but now that I have switched over my hair is healthier..much heathier, weightless, and moisterized.

Your situation could have several factors at the root of it. It could be due to allergic reactions to something you are using, a new product or an ingredient in one of the products , or a medical condition like alopecea. In either case, I will advise that you see a dermatologist to examine your scalp and rule out any disease. Please do this soon as possible to reduce the chances of a complete hair loss. I wish you the best.
