Get a 2nd opinion from an experienced vet. Also, some dogs get fatty tumors from where their elbows will rub on their sides.

I agree that you should get a second opinion from a different vet. If a vet says that they have never seen something like this before, it shows that they have little experience, and therefore are pretty much beating around the bush and trying to hint to you to get the opinion of a vet that has seen it before. Hope your dog is all right!

You could check to see what it is on google it might just be a bump because my neighbors dog has to little bumps on it's side and her vet says it's nothing but that she can have it removed if she wants to. Good luck! If it's major take it to the animal ER!

Try a different vet. The one you already attend obviously is not up on some things. If you go to a new vets and the result is the same, then try one of those emergency rooms and they are sure to help. Hope I helped.

It can be anything.Cancer,Tumor etc.It has to be checked for malignancy and this is possible only through biopsy. In this context,I would like to inform you that one of my dog developed a tumor like growth,in his front elbow.First it was a small lump. With years, this growth continued to grow until it reached the size of a ball.Due to its own weight, the mass use to hang down and restricted the movement of my dog. The vet advised surgical removal, which was not possible, since the dog was vicious and could not be put on lease. The dog continued to live for more then 14 years and ultimately died of old age.Hence,it does not necessarily imply that the growth is malignant. The vet had informed us that it is the result of worm infestation.Better check up.

If my vet responded like that I would go to another vet and get a second opinion.
Best to you in this.

You should go find a vet that will answer the question BUT if you can see it it's probably just a 'lipoma' - soft fatty 'thing'. My dog has one. Its ugly but harmless.
