you sound like a person of faith. I'm assuming youprobably go to church.
Ask your pastor if he knows any dentists that will see you for reduced fees.
I myself see patients referred by religious organizations.
If you're a studnet, you should have loans, and I spent 8 years living on them, an i know it's tight, but just go to a dentist! it'll be like 20 for an xray, 40 for an exam, and worse comes to worse, 150 or so for extraction. You've been suffering for three years and you couldn't have saved up 200 bucks?
I'm sorry; i shouldn't question you at this point; yo'ure in pain etc, but please find help. at least get on antibiotics (penicillin or amox 500, one tab four times a day for a week at least...)
and advil. but you have to be seen.
i'll say a prayer, but you'll need a dentist's as well as divine intervention. also, if you have a dental school at or near your university, their fees are cheaper.
email me if there's anything else i can do.

I was once in a similar situation in that I had no dental insurance and could not afford to have a root canal. Luckily, an abcess is a MEDICAL condition. Go immediately to a walk in clinic or the emergency room. They will give you the antibiotic you will need to clear up the infection, and they will also give you some drugs to manage the pain. Once you start taking the antibiotic, find a dentist that can help you and work out a payment plan with you.

Call a dentist and explain your situation. They are human. And maybe they will work out a small payment plan with you. Be honest to them about you $ situation.
Or is there a clinic in the area. Or maybe the school has a dental school program and you can volenteer to be a patient for the students. I did this when I was a college student for dental work and hair cuts. Do worry they won't let a student thats not ready yet even get near you.

Advil , Advil, Advil !!!! It is the ONLY thing I will use when an abscess is causing pain. A dentist told me this. At first I balked, but then I was desperate enough to try it. It worked better than everything else I have ever tried. It reduces the swelling an concurs the pain all in one fell swoop. It works better than prescription pain pills because it gets rid of the swelling that is an abscess

Go to the emergency room ASAP. Dental abcesses can easily be fatal. They will refer you to a dentist who will take you on an emergency basis. The dentist will realize you are in danger and will work out something. Please go ASAP. I have a friend who lost their brother this way. The infection progressed rapidly to his brain over a 4 day period. This is nothing to mess with.

This is a health situation- and if you're life is in danger, you must go see someone.
call your local dentist and explain you're very low on money and you cant afford it. They may give you a loan or a discount. But you MUST get it taken out!
You're entire mouth could become inflamed sooner than later and at that point, you just go down hill and can oventually lead to head swelling(a.k.a stroke)
GO!

Go to the Emergency room. Sometimes, they have a partnership with a local dentist and often time refer you to them.
If that is that case, like it is where I live, then if the emergency room refers you then they HAVE to see you.

I AM SADDENED TO READ OF YOUR PLIGHT.
THE IMPORTANT THING TO DO IS TO FIND A DENTIST THAT WILL NOW EXTRACT THIS TOOTH FOR YOU.
AN ABSCESS CAN BE LIFE THREATENING AND IN THE OLD DAYS PEOPLE KNEW THAT THOSE TEETH WERE FATAL.
MAYBE SOMEONE IN YOUR CHURCH/PASTOR CAN HELP YOU. THEY MAY EVEN TAKE UP A COLLECTION FOR YOUR NEEDS.
