Do you think that having freedom from Foreign oil is a good enough reason to tear down unique and wild national forests?

Especially because it doesn't free us from anything and it just kills us in the medium term (I used to say long term 20 years ago).

It depends on which areas you mean. If you're trying to describe ANWAR (the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge), your description is ironeous at best. The area is as much Forest as downtown New York. But to answer the question, anything that removes money from the volatile middle east and keeps it in the hands of American Workers is good. Additionally America follows guidelines for pollution that are FAR more strict than most (if not ALL) oil producing nations. As we are always reminded that it is a global enviroment, it makes more sense for us to mine our own materials and protect the enviroment that much more.

Do you think that the loss of one square mile out of a thousand square miles of wild national forests would be enough for you to lose your life over? Well, Americans are killing and dying in Iraq so that you can have that one square mile of forest that you will never see.
