i had a horrible experience recently with a car dealership...to make a long story short, i had to return the vehicle..i had put 1K down, and they told me i would have it by mail no later than today. i returned the vehicle on last thursday. if i dont have the check in my mailbox today, what should i do..is 5 days a reasonable amount of time for a refund. my friend says i should expect it between today and no later than saturday..when should i make a complaint?

I assume that what happened was you were "spot delivered" and the were unable to get the financing approved. What happens in a case like this you return the car, they return your down payment and / or trade in, and the deal is reversed! If you paid the money down by check, they will want to be sure the check you wrote cleared before they issue you a refund!

If you returned the vehicle on Thursday most likely the check would have been issued on Friday (assuming that your check had cleared) It most likely was mailed Friday evening, or Saturday.

Seeing as Tuesday was Christmas, and seeing as this is the busiest time of the year for the post office, your check may be delayed a day or two. If you do not receive it by tomorrow, call the dealership to verify that it has been mailed!

I do not think you are going to have a problem.

You don't say whether you had paid the 1K by check.
They will be certain that the check has cleared before issuing a refund.
Most places require a 10 day waiting period. With the holidays, banks were closed Sat, Sun, and Christmas.

First, check with your bank to see if the check has been paid.
If, so, You go girl.
