Islam, hands down, who else this day and age stones a woman to death over stupid stuff?

Not sure why an objective opinion need to come from a female source, especially as both males and females are just as likely to be either informed or not.

Christianity, in some sects, can be oppressive, but this is not the majority of belief/practice.

Islam, especially from the recent news, is completely over the top, at least in Islamic countries.

I only know Catholicism, Christianity and Islam.
I think the Bible speaks badly about women... gives them a lower position, whereas the Qur'an and the teachings of the Prophet insist on 'caring for the women' and being gentle with them. He insisted on women being educated, and listened to. He also stated that the mother deserves the most respect, that the heaven is at the mother's feet-metaphorically speaking, and was said to have referred to women as 'precious jewels'. Moreover, while women may be 'stoned' for certain crimes, the same laws/punishments apply to men -there is no discrimination there. So, I think that Christianity -from what I am aware of the Bible, is more brutal and discriminative toward women.

If you're taking any of the holy texts literally, then all of the Abrahamic religions are pretty equally misogynistic. Fortunately most practitioners of Christianity and Judaism aren't so cruel to women as their holy books instruct them to be, and happily the number of women with equal rights in Islam is increasing (although mostly outside of the Middle East).

i'm a Muslim and i'm proud to be one !and it's not Islam, i'll tell u that much ! if anything Islam had granted rights to women way before the west ever did. do ur homework , u'll see ! we have rules and principles that we follow, and heaven knows society would be a better place if everyone followed them ! and Islam does not permit a husband to hit his wife. in fact it is totally against the idea. i think there are many misconceptions about Islam in general, and i think ppl need to stop passing judgment about something they don't understand !

The religion itself is not brutal. It is the women that step inside of it,and the men that conduct it that is discriminative and brutal.

Brutality , discrimination comes from stupid people absolutely has nothing to do with God's religion .

Any belief situation, whether called religion or cult or by any other name, in which females are considered inferior to males, in which females are controlled by, abused by, extorted by, dominated by, or brainwashed by males, especially if it is condoned by a government, qualifies. There are good and bad in all "religions" and "cultures". It's the evil that is prevalent in society, period, that we need to seek to eradicate.
