If you want a room to look fresh, light, cozy and bigger, I would definitely go with painting your walls in creamy shades. I personally have used a soft creamy yellow on my walls for that very reason. The color goes with everything and becomes just a neutral background. Yet my rooms look light and airy and fresh. When choosing paint make sure the colors you are choosing have a warm look to them not a cool look.

If you get a lot of paint samples together you will begin to see where some take on a grey or green appearance. Those have a cool base. If the shade you are looking at has more of a yellow cast it is warm based.

You definitely want warm shades in order to bring a cozy feel.

I would suggest you go to the paint store and pick up a lot of paint samples, bring them home and tape them on the wall. A lot of paint departments have small sample paints you can take home and try on your wall. Make sure you look at the color in many different areas and in different times of the day.

Take your paint swatches and put them up against you new wood floors and see what you like the best, also with your furnishings.

Definitely don't just settle for white walls! You may be amazed at how even a warm beige or creamy yellow will change the feel of your room.

Best Wishes!

It would highly depend on the colors you personally like. Go down to the paint store and pick up a LOT of those little paint sample cards. Once you figure out the color(s) for your walls, then you'll have to pick accent colors. Your possibilities are totally endless.

Look bigger - use a pastel shade
Look fresh - light, clean [ pastels again ] color
Look cosy - use one of the colors in your bedding, or a light shade of same color.
Say you have a sage green print with yellow rosebuds on it - you could use pale sage, yellow, or plain ivory or white.

Choose pastel colors that will be easy to add color with accessories so that if you want to change your room later, you can do that the easy way with new blankets, pillows, etc instead of repainting.
