I just don't get it. Depending on your age, you probably have a brother, cousin, uncle, father, grandfather, great unlce, or great grandfather, that fought in World War II. WW2 was only about 60 years ago. that is not a very long time. In that war we fought several nations, but the main two were Japan and Germany. While the Germans were no saints, NO other country in the war was as brutal as Japan. When our fighting boys were overwhelmed and were forced to surrender, they would either be shot on the spot, tortured to death, or transported to a POW camp where they would be starved or tortured. The Japanese were(maybe still are) savages. How can any self-respecting American buy a vehicle manufactured by the grandchildren of such barbarians. Yes, they are beginning to open plants in America, but GM has many more plants here than Toyota, Honda, and Nissan combined. Domestic companies also pay more taxes.

I expect some hostile answers. Thank you and have a nice day!!

As far as quality goes i dont think foriegn companys have it, they use all of the same generic parts on all models of cars and trucks same steering wheels, door pannels ect its just a mass production of cheaply built cars.Anyone can get 40 miles to the gallon if you put a 4 banger in anything, but most of us as americans like our big V-8's .And as far as quality goes, do any of you remember toyota's big sludge recalls with the camarys as well as the current problems they are having with the , tundras ,Sequoia the lexus brands ,the almighty prius. These cars seam to have alot of malfuctions just seams some people are just to blind to notice because they are beyond smug about owning a so called great vehicle.Hands down if you were to compair us to foreign parts you will see a big diferences in the quality of parts used, as well as not having a huge price difference anymore ,As far as the us using other parts, yea im not a fan of it either but if you think about it maybe its what we as americans forced them to do in order to keep up with the competition .As far as the chineese and japaneese manufacturing industry now, you wouldnt trust them with making toys for your kids because of lead content among other toxic chemical that been having massive US recalls about that shouldnt be used in toys to save money why would you trust them in making a vechile that could put you and your family at risk.Ford and GM is where its at .However i do like the fact that foreign automakers use the straight 6 more than others but i dont find the vehicles appealing they jump seam very cheap.See links below on safty recalls there was hundreds more links to add but just try typeing in honda recalls or toyota recalls.

As hard as it may sound, I have families that fought for WW2. I can see how brutal the war can be a pain to remember. Sometimes, even as time goes on, we need to learn to forgive one another in order to love and be at peace with one another.

American car companies are making better cars today because of the techniques we learned from the Japanese car companies. For example, the GM Nummi plant in Fremont, California is one of them. They have a joint venture with Toyota & GM workers in building better cars.

American cars were not up to quality standards back in the 1970's. There were subpar models including the Pinto. If it wasn't for the competition from foreign car companies, we could possibly be driving clunkers like back in the 70's.

If you use past grievances as a criteria for what you can't buy, you won't be able to shop for very much. The bottom line is that the reason why American car makers lost market share was because foreign manufacturers were producing better products. And that's what people want, a better product, not the history of what happened sixty years ago. At one time, the British were our barbarians, but if you can't let go of the past, you'll continue to give yourself reasons to be unhappy. Let it go already, if you want to be a happier person.

Because Ford, Dodge, and Chevy are built in Japan, Mexico, and some parts are coming from Italy, and a few other countries now.

Toyota Tundra's are built in Texas, and Indiana. That's why a lot of people are buying Toyota, because they're built in the USA. And are getting better serviceability and fuel mileage than out of a so called "American" car.

I understand about WWII and the Japanese. But that was a long time ago. Certainly you are not suggesting that all Japanese are the same and as you describe. What the Americans did to the Japanese that were here was atrocious. We had camps like they did in Germany. Horrid! I bought a Toyota because it was reliable and dependable. That's what I needed. I love it. I would buy another one because of it.

When the American car companies build a car that is comparable to the Japanese car companies, people will buy them. Until then, they will buy the ones that last the longest for the least price (Japanese or Foreign)

Although my whole family owns american cars right now the point is japanese cars last alot longer and dont have as many repairs. Not to mention it seems 90% of the parts of chevy and my buick are foreign. So even if its made here its made with mostly foreign parts. It makes me sick too but your damned if you do and damned if you dont.

It is called free market. Those who make the best products, as determined by the consumer, wins. It just stinks that the Big Three sat on their butts so long and thought only about short term gains instead of reinvesting in future opportunities. This was done at the cost of the US worker's job. Do not hate the consumer, hate slow to act producer. Now if you were talking about steel dumping, that is another story.

I prefer two Asian products; cars, and wives.

Just joking, but my car is Japanese, and I love it. And my wife is Filipina, and I love her.

Other than that, it's American all the way!

Happy New Year!
