JVC Everio GZ MG 130 or JVC Everio GZ MG 155, if I were to buy either one of these camcorders, does anyone know what kind of, if any, software I would need to have on my computer?

Most camcorders come with computer interface software and cables. To be honest your probably don’t need any software if you want to download your video onto your computer. Just plug the camcorder into the USB slot and it should created a directory ("H: /" or something) and you can use it that way. If your are not able to watch the video on the computer the file type is probably not supported by any of your media players like Windows media player, flash, QuickTime, in that case I would suggest downloading the free version of "divx player" which supports many video formats at

If you can play DVDs on your PC you shouldn't have any problems playing the video from these cameras. Windows Movie Maker doesn't support the video format they use, so you'll need to buy an editor if you plan to edit your footage.
