My daughter was 5 before she was fully potty trained. Don't push her into it, because she will be reluctant to do it. Mine would pee, but not poop. Seems that she inherited IBS from me, and it hurt her to go. So, she was scared of the potty. The doc told me that this was okay, and just let her go when she was ready. When she started Pre-K, it was like night and day, she went all on her own. So, I know that people may say rude things to you about your child being so old, and not being potty trained. Lord knows I went through that. But, don't worry, she is your daughter, and you know what is best for her.

A week after my son turned 3, I went into it FULL FORCE and he was fully potty trained in about 2 weeks. So he was about 3 years and 1 month old.
Don't use pull-ups. It just does not work. I put them on him only for night time for a few months. I just put him in underwear and sweat pants and I dealt with the messes. (I only let him set on wood chairs or on the floor in the living room on a folded heavy towel.) NEVER go back to the pull-ups once you do the undies because they get confused. Even if you leave the house. (He just stayed home for a week, he was OK with that anyhow because he hates to go shopping with me!) It was the only thing that worked, and it worked great!!
Since your daughter is 4, she should fully understand it all. You should have great success with just throwing on a pair of undies. Expect accidents!! Don't 'yell' at her but let her know how disappointed you are and have her 'help' you clean it up.
Good luck!

It took a total of about 6 months from start to finish for our child to be potty trained. The key to success is the child's willingness to participate and repetition in my opinion. Every child is different ofcourse! Just remember to praise them like never before when they do use the potty successfully.
I found if you buy fun character undies it helps ease the transition (ie Barbie/Elmo etc, whichever character the child is into). And telling them they wouldn't want to get "Elmo" dirty if they went #1 or #2 on them (this worked wonders for us).
Ofcourse NEVER scold/punish the child, this will only lengthen your journey!
Good luck!

My son was 4-1/2 when he was finally fully potty trained. He just was a stubborn lil thing. It's great that she's finally on board with being a big girl!

I'm suprised it was so easy with my son. When he turned 3, I decided one day to put him in underwear, and never needed another diaper. It usually doesn't happen that way. My daughter was kinda forced to potty train, because at that time we were poorer than dirt and couldn't get help buying diapers.

WOW, 4 is too old to barely be potty trained! I started before mine were 2 and it only took a couple weeks to grasp it completely.

My daughter was two too. She started using the potty thing without her diaper and undies around the time.

depends on the kid and the sex, boys usually take longer, but around ages 2 and 3 is when they are potty trained, some can have accidents even after being trained
