I am going to my first New Year in as long as I can remember. I have not been to the hostesses house before and would like to give some food that is bit different to just sausage rolls and crisps etc. something savoury. Any ideas?

4 wheat intolerant, 1 lactose intolerant. I am diabetic. Happy New Year all! Thanks for suggestions in advance.

When you start mixing all those intolerances, you're usually either left w/ fresh fruit or one of the people has to skip the dish. I vote the lactose-intolerant take Lactaid, and you bring this! :-D

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

1 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1 stick butter, softened
½ cup chopped pecans, finely chopped
2 Tbsp. light brown sugar
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips

Combine all ingredients (except choc. chips) in a bowl with electric mixer, much like you would a cookie dough. Refrigerate for at least half an hour. Take out mixture, form into a ball, then roll it in the choc. chips. Refrigerate again until ready to serve. Place on Platter and serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, or shortbread cookies.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/nT32n

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

How about something like Stuffed Mushrooms? The filling can be anything you like, just get large beakfast mushrooms and add the filling to them then oven bake.

If you want a pre-done idea, there are some wonderful party lines - stuffed jalapideo peppers, indian snacks, etc at Morrisons - 3 for £5.00
