To question leads to knowledge to stop questioning leads to ignorance and blind obedience. Those who questions uncover answers along the way. These answers lead to discoveries and inventions that make your:
work, driving, giving finger at other drivers, eating dinner, spending time with husband and pets, reading a book, going to bed -
safer, more enjoyable, more convenient etc. etc.

For two reasons: 1. Various religions claim that the world was created by god(s) in a specified manner, if there is no evidence to support that, then it infers that there is a problem with their belief. 2. Science is not a belief system, and it is a methodology for learning and describing reality. Studying the origins of earth is part of science and has uncovered massive amounts of evidence. This should be treated as fact.

Why do you even bother to be involved in R&S if you're so sick, bored, or merely apathetic about creation and life-after-death questions and answers? Stay with the "Etiquette" section of YA. It seems to be your forte, since you're such a "top contributor" in that category. Go with your strength, and leave your pissing and moaning out of the R&S realm.

If you believe this is the end all of be all of religious belief then you have missed the message. Active relationship with God is more exciting than anything I've seen in your list. That's what it's about. It's not the beginging, not the end, but the journey in between that should be important to us. Without God, there is a real emptiness. Some people are just too busy to recognize it.

When Jesse Ventura was governor of my state he said that religion was intended for weak minded people.
He was the 1st governor in MN to be from a 3rd party. Personally I did not care for him, but I found that comment to be a little amusing.

I'm in the same camp with you.
Yes, science has a right to understand the universe, and I totally believe that science is a tool God gave us to use.
However, whatever conclusions science comes up with as to the "creation" of the world, it doesn't change a single fact of what really matters in life.
I think people like to argue about it, because it gives them something to argue about; and nothing more.

I can't explain it, but reading about such things in National Geographic or seeing it on TV just fascinates me! It's fun. It's awe-inspiring!

I suddenly found myself concerned with how the Bible god was created -- and I have people who are concerned with how the universe was created to thank for that.
While your question is duly appreciated, I must continue my quest to discover who the hell created the Bible god, that so many church folks find fascinating; not to mention his son Jesus whom they praise til they're blue in the face every damn Sunday.

2Timothy 3:7
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
That is why they are fascinated by science, space, universe and trying to explain it all. For they are cursed to learn for life yet never understand the truth. G_D is clear about this.
And watch that finger... you never know who might be driving the other car. :P
