I think that most people use whatever religion they choose to rationalize their life choices and empower their moral justifications.
I've know of a few Satanists who are basically just assholes. "Do what thou wilt" and all that. Completely self-interested, couldn't care a whit about other people. I see that as metaphysical self-justification.
But I've also seen Christians do exactly the same thing - now, they act nicer, and they pretend that they care about other people, but in the end they want *their* way to be done, their viewpoint to prevail, and are perfectly willing to call anyone who opposes them anything from atheist to immoral to ungodly to whatever. This class of people, and there are a bunch of them out there, are perfectly happy to hold double standards in how they treat christians vs atheists, or to read the bible (whose greatest commandment is love) and use it to spread judgement and hatred on others. Religion = moral justification and moral empowerment.
Christianity is such a wide umbrella that you can really believe just about anything and still be christian. There is no political authority controlling the expression of religion, and the Bible provides so many opportunities to use it to justify whatever you want.
So... selfishness. It's easy to be Christian, because everyone else is Christian. There's no stigma anymore (except from other Christians), there's no one demanding you act a certain way (except other Christians), and there's ample room to believe within the Christian umbrella, what with all the different verses and justifications people use.
So... Believe some dude died for your sins, and you're in the club. Pretty low cover charge, y'know?
Other religions pose their own difficulties. Wicca and neopagans kinda have to write their own rule books, and there isn't much of a tradition for anything else (thanks to the Christian persecution over the centuries) but Satanism kinda lucks out - rich traditions to draw from, and a pre-existing hotbed of discontent with Christianity.
I mean, the only real problem with becoming a Satanist is that it's a lot harder for someone like me to take you seriously.
I may not believe in the supernatural, but I do have a code of ethics, and for us to succeed as a human specie, we have to learn how to get along together. I don't see satanism (or at least my understanding and my experiences with it) as really adding to that.

All religions, and that includes satanism, are based on superstition and myth. There is no god (never has been), there is no devil, or angels, or demons. Religions, and again that includes satanism, were created for one simple reason ....... to exert control over other people. In practice religions are no different than politics, a military, or the creation of a king hierarchy. The purposes are no different. Throughout history religions have done more to separate, agitate, and victimize people than any thing else ever created by man. Now do people need some type of order and structure in their lives? Absolutely otherwise anarchy would ensue, thus the need for governments. Now for those that choose to live their lives guided by the fairie tale that is religion, fine, it's your life, do as you please. But do not be so egotistical and self centered to believe that your particular religious beliefs are some kind of perfect truth. Religions are the greatest con ever played upon the world.

You can follow the path that you think is correct.
But I think you are mistaken when you say "evil is stronger, wiser, and better". I am not talking about God and the devil...I am talking about evil in men. Evil may appear "stronger" or "wiser" or "better"...but that is just because they don't have to follow the rules everyone else does. That doesn't make them "better"...that makes them "weaker". I could claim to be the best chess player in the world if I didn't follow the rules and my opponent did...but that doesn't really make me better at chess....does it? Evil is a deception...I choose not to follow the path were deception is your best and only tool to get through life. I choose to live on my own merits...and if I am not the "best" through those...then I am quite happy with that.
So, like I began with...follow the path you want. But don't start off with a false premise to choose that path.

Hmm well I am an atheist, I don't believe in any god. But if it was proven that the god of the bible was running things, I would willingly and proudly choose to fight against him.
America is about the only country where Christianity has such a foothold, which even surprised me I admit. But most American Christians don't realize that. They honestly seem to think most people think or feel like they do, while the rest of the world laughs at them.

The question really should be - what do you think Satanism actually is? I would have to know what your idea of Satanism is before telling you what I think of it.
Satanism of the sort where believers consciously worship Satan as an evil entity or an enemy of the Christian God appears to be confined to rumor, disturbed teenagers, and bad heavy metal music. Satanism also has a code of ethics. What do you think about their code of ethics? Do you even know what they are?
And...
America runs on Dunkin! :)

When it comes right down to it, the only reason why you choose not to believe is that you know if you did, you would have to change your life style in some way.
You don’t like the idea of handing over your life to someone else whose going to tell you what you can and can not do.
Bottom line is you want to run your life as you see fit.
Well fine, go ahead and be your own boss; sooner or later you’re going to get sick and tired of constantly getting yourself into one mess after another. When you’ve finally had enough of yourself, Jesus will be there to help you pick up the pieces of your broken shattered life and give you the joyful, peaceful life you could have had all along.

I think satanists are evil. They live for themselves. I think some who claim Christianity are evil, because their hearts are not truly changed.
You say you would die for someone else? Obviously, you haven't been called upon to do that-how do you know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you would actually be willing to give up your life?
Trust me, if you would die to save someone else then Satan is not your master. He doesn't allow love and self-sacrifice to live within your heart-with him there's room for only him, and his biggest and best illusion is to convince you that he doesn't really exist. Once he's done that, you're pretty much his.

You don't understand what Jesus did. His sacrifice was infinite. It was not merely the giving of His life. He suffered all the pains, guilt, and sorrows of all mankind that had ever lived or would ever live. The pain was such that it made Him, God, tremble and bleed from every pore. An angel had to be sent to help Him endure it. And Jesus suffered these things because only He could. I don't mean that only He could endure it, though that is true. I mean that only He could make a sinless sacrifice because He committed no sins. he was perfect, and He chose to intercede between us and the consequences of our imperfection. Only one who was sinless could have performed this intercession.
But beyond that misunderstanding, I don't understand why you would want to worship someone who, according to the scriptures, seems to hate you and desires only to see you suffer, compared to someone who, according to the scriptures, seems to love you and who created you and who promises you eternal life and happiness.

My question would you die for people who did not want you .. could can't care less if you died for them and even mock you and make fun of you? Also they would hate you if you did and show no thanks and would in fact say you did just to be self important.. Then also go out and mock all those who believe you did it and deny that you did it and tease ridicule and other wise make it a laughing stock out of those that believe you died for any one or even existed?
