Tell them that scripture says by believing in Christs death, burial and resurrection God made you a member of the church, which is His Body. And if they want to know who you have trusted for your salvation, tell them "the finished work of Christ."
If they want anything else from you...which it sounds like they do...tell them to take a hike.
Its a legalistic church you are about to get involved in. Who needs it?

Cause its not a real church. When you become a member at a church, you don't sign a document binding you to that church. The church I go to only has you come up in front of the congregation to be recognized as a member. Then the Pastor always says, in short, if you feel God is telling you to go to another church, then you should do just that.
Don't sign it. It will just turn into headaches for you.

Some churches feel like you need to be a member to be more active and they feel it makes you feel more a part of their church family..kind of like being on the inside of all the desiscions and if you are a member you will have more of a say in the way the church is being run. Just my ideas nothing written in stone

I don't know; do they expect a tithe or something? I had a friend who went to a UU church for a while, and they wanted her to sign a membership book and then all the members were expected to contribute a certain amount.

those that have been documented have additionally been disproved, from what I truthfully have examine. Evangelists have been caught applying instant earpieces, and being fed suggestions from greeters. Say I walk in to the revival, hoping to get healed of my kidney ailment. A smiling handsome guy greets me and welcomes me. As he leads me to my seat, he asks in a discount-chatty way, what brings me to the revival and that i say I truthfully have lupus, an motor vehicle-immune arthritic ailment. i do no longer see the microphone clipped to his lapel, yet Brother Joe-Bob hears each thing I say. Then, for the period of the healing provider, Bro. J-B claims that "gawd" is telling him that there is a guy interior the objective industry with lupus and God needs him healed. etc. An Easter Orthodox church right here in Texas grow to be caught presently too, whilst the government began investigating the "miracle" of a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who grow to be crying genuine tears. They took samples of the tears, examined them, and located that they have got been cooking oil. They set up cameras and caught a monk utilising the cooking oil with a drugs dropper. those are in simple terms 2 i've got heard approximately and that i do no longer circulate out of my thank you to look those issues up. i'm constructive there are plenty greater that for the duration of no way make it to the newspapers or information superhighway.

For the same reason they implemented infant baptism - guaranteed membership. Some also want to see your W2 forms to make sure what you tithe is 10%. Please make sure that what they're teaching is the truth, if that's going to be your lifelong religion (John 4:24). And keep in mind the words of Jesus Christ at Matthew 10:8 "...You received free, give free."

Perhaps that is how that person was convinced to join the cult, and now would like to proselytize in the same manner.
