I just can't understand living in world without believing that there's something greater than anything I could find in this world. It gives me hope. I'm not a religious person and I don't believe every piece of religious text that I read, there's just something inside that tells you that it's not right. If you're talking about religious books, you have to understand that people are flawed and we are not always a good representation of who Christ is. The Bible is true and holy, written by the Almighty God. If you don't believe today, I pray that you will believe--someday.

I agree with your statement about "the amount of lies/falsities and brutality in the religious texts are disgusting to me."
And I think, that as with anything, it is a matter of perspective and where a persons focus is. I was raised a Mormon and over the past several years my percpective has shifted and I see things in a very different light now. So much so that I have been inactive in the Mormon faith for the past two.
Sometime we can not see the forest, because we are only staring at one or two trees. And by all means the forest can not be sick, for the two trees I see before me are perfectly healthy.
And sorry No, I have not been to any Atheist Websites. I have my own doubts.

I guess I am 2 of the above. I am a Christian for sure. The church I belong to is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints. You refer to me as a Mormon, which was a derogatory phrase used by people from Missouri and Illinois over 150 years ago. The Southern Baptist Convention says we are not Christian. I don't know how they can say that when we take the sacrament in the name of Jesus Christ. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Our church is named after Jesus Christ, and theirs after an ordinance. There attitude is not vey Christian, and they have some very strange beliefs such as once saved always saved.
Anyway, why would I doubt in the Father and the Son, when I receive a testimony through the Holy Ghost through a warmth and a burning in my chest each day of every week and particularly when I am doing good in the world.
What kind of plan have the atheists presented to me. I know that if every one on the earth lived the simple laws that Jesus Christ gave us, our prisons would be empty, our jails would be empty, we could leave our houses and cars unlocked and our wallets on the table and no one would take them. No one would lie to us. We wouldn't need lawyers just arbitrators to settle what few disputes we had. Every able bodied person would work and not be a dole on society. The widows and the lame would be taken care of . We would live in a perfect world. Families would be the greatest organizations on earth instead of unwed mothers producing children. Or where I live, many people knowing who there mother is, but not there father.
There would be no people killed by drunk drivers. Drugs would not be a problem. I could go on and on. Come on, tell me what you have to offer? What do you atheiest have to offer that even comes close to this?

This section is called "Religion & Spirituality."
Trust me, some of us believe in God but eschew religion for the very reason you mentioned.
My take is that no matter how much a sacred book was "inspired" by God, it was nonetheless physically written by a human being -- and therefore subject to the writers' attitudes, opinions, and prejudices. Yikes, just look at what Leviticus declares worthy of death -- wearing red clothing? Oy vey!
Beyond good things like the Ten Commandments and the good old golden rule about treating others as I'd like to be treated, I don't really subscribe to much of what religions offer, particularly since radical fundamentalists are supremely annoying with their holier than thou attitudes. Gotta love those Christians who loudly [and vainly] profess their unwavering faith in Christ, but then don't bother actually behaving the way the man instructed -- those details are so niggling, dontcha know.
So, I just revere and pray to God, without mindlessly spouting memorized texts -- I have long concluded that sincerity trumps rote memorization. And I try to think and act benevolently as much as possible.

I am Christian- would definitely say I had my own "atheist" years previously. So, yes. I know why you doubt. Doubt is not a bad word- it is realistic. All brutality is disgusting to me. That only shows you have a sensitive soul. Do you think God is happy when He has to punish someone? Have you ever had to put an animal down (not that they are equal to people) because it was so sick it was beyond repair? Agonizing decision.

We know why you doubt but we don't know what you believe.
Do you believe that we can make poverty history? Do you believe that war is evil? Do you believe that we need ot take care of the planet. Do you believe that a child born in Sierra Leone has as much right to a full life as one born in Dallas? Do you believe that there is the potential for goodness in everyone or do you classify and condemn?
I will welcome a link to an Atheist website which addresses these issues.

5 in a city. My goodness you're ill counseled. there is a minimum of one city interior the rustic, inhabitants approximately 40,000 that has nicely over 2 hundred non secular homes. (church homes etc;) My very own thoughts are those; .. if the comparable variety of those that commit themselves to the maintenance of those homes, interior the occasion I even have used, could use that comparable potential and finance to help others, the worldwide could be slightly greater advantageous off than presently. Use all that non secular zeal and money by the worldwide for helping those much less nicely off and we would have a clean worldwide.

I would have no desire to visit an Atheists site, because I do believe in Jesus and the bible. I do not believe in organized religion, I have my own personal relationship with the man himself. I hope to have a place in the Kingdom of God one day and nothing, not even visiting a site as you say, would change my beliefs.
