I don't think you're wrong; in fact I agree with just about everything you believe on your list.

You sound ok to me!

I'd only question point 1 - by saying that the Bible shouldn't ALWAYS be given a literal or historical interpretation. There are some elements which have a historical basis (although not necessarily literal - being well-read in Theology, you hopefully understand what I'm saying)

I'm new here so I don't know much yet about how some YA'ers behave. I expect I'll find out soon enough!!

Oh yeah - and you need to really repent and accept Jesus as your saviour!!! (dang, why no smileys on YA?!)

you sound very reasonable and I can agree with most of your points.
But how are you presenting your questions?
And just FYI, religion is never a good topic to be discussed in this kind of forum.
You respect the opinions of others, do you respect the beliefs of others?
If you do, you will not try and post things that upset people because their beliefs are very important to them and nothing that they read on Y!A will change their mind. It will only upset them.
If you want to ask questions, go to your own church and have a discussion with them. If you don't have a church, find another place on the web where you will find like minded people. Believe me, it is not here.
Ask other kinds of questions on here, that do not have anything to do with religion. Or just answer questions. I;m sure you must have some life experiences where you can help others, or even if you don't - you could try and help them by looking up things for them. You might find some interesting websites that way. I have found tons of things that way that I would never even have thought of looking for. And it is fun.
There is a reason why they say to never discuss politics and religion.
good luck
have a nice day

I agree with your position. I also do not believe organized religion is the only way to know God. The beauty of the Higher Power, whatever a person may choose to call Him, is in the mystery. I think the Bible is mainly a guideline, a way that man has tried to explain and understand God. But, I have a problem with how many times throughout history the Bible has been translated, and if it is the actual Divine word, how its meaning has been changed by human error.

To some extent all people feel like their way is the only way.I have noticed that Y/A has lots of diverse people of all ages race and religionand in here you can say what you think even if it sounds stupid and also some people are just plain silly and want to have a difference of a opinion even if they believe the same way you do. Y/A is meant for enjoyment purposes .You are very educated with degrees in psychotherapy and psychology so you of all people should know the complex workings of the human mind.Dont put to much into what people say just live and believe the way you want to because YOU are the only one who understands your heart and mind completely. Dont worry be happy with yourself.

What a fantastic subject that touches not on intellect or reason but emotion. Some religious groups insist that they alone possess the sole way to worship & believe. Some of these believers practice tolerance of other religions, others try to convert you to the "rightness" of their beliefs & to those who mock & or put-down a person's views, worse are those who try to coerce their views onto others imposing laws or legislation.

I am sorry for anyone attacking you- it is fear driven and not faith driven. You have a beautiful mind and heart- it seems. The thing about pursuing truth is- you have to be willing to be wrong. So many people are not willing to be wrong. Sit alone with "God" and ask Him to show you- and be willing, if only for a moment, to suspend your thoughts and accept what ever He shows you. I am a Christian- but would never have gotten there through church or people.

You are wrong to assume that everyone is as open minded as you. You are wrong to think that the people on this forum know or care about you. As far as YA goes, you are just some words on a monitor. Believe in yourself and search for the truth in your heart and hope that when you die you are correct in your convictions, hope that all is reveiled in death.

I believe it is because as Christians, we are to take a stand for Jesus Christ and there has been too much bashing of Him lately. I am sorry that you do not see the perfect love He has for you and sometimes, intellect and reasoning and logic get in the way. Our God is illogical by human standards. His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. Jesus and our God are matters of the heart and Spirit . God is God and we are not, and why He continues to love us who act like we are god, is amazing. Please open your heart.

Jeremiah 9:23-24 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

With all your degrees, If you do not know God you know nothing that matters . Come to Christ

you are wrong because you are educated and you think for yourself as opposed to blindly following the interpretations of those who want to control you your thoughts and actions.too few people in the world are like you and find it wiser to actually act as you believe instead of hiding your actions behind guilt ridden beliefs.
