1. spells aren't instantaneous. they work about as well as a prayer would in Christianity.
2. Wicca is a religion it's number 1 priority is the worship of the Gods. what you have stated is more along the lines that Witchcraft is a joke, not Wicca.

For your information.... Wicca is about nature, moon, sun, stars, they celebrate life and they thank mother nature for the wonderful things around. Instead of being closed minded they give every think a shot magick being used everyday is a myth Wicca really try magic and when they do, do it, it is helping someone, like wishing for a homeless person to get back on his feet. Until you try before judging you will just continue believing everything you hear don't be so gullible do some research and you will see what Wicca is all about!!

Sure you have the right to believe whatever you want regarding my religion. I also have the right to believe that you are an ignorant wretch who needs to actually learn something about an entire belief system before judging all 1 million if its followers. Spells and wands play a VERY small part in the religion, and they're not "jokes", thanks. You seem to be under the delusion that Wiccans hang out in their parents' basements and cast spells all day. As with most other religions, we have deities, dogmas, and enough common sense to not try and bash other religions to artificially inflate our own egos.

Yes and I supposed prayer is a joke too, or believing in angels and demons and a carpenter who raised people from the dead about 2000 years ago. Belief in reincarnation is a joke. Hel, I guess faith period is a joke.
Whatever.
Wiccans and other practicioners of witchcraft have nothing to prove. Spells and magic work by faith. If you don't have it, well then no amount of "proof" will convince you.
I don't know what spirituality or lack thereof you are but I suggest finding better things to do than belittling the faiths of other people. Your life must be pretty sad.

Well, I'm not Wiccan. I'm actually Pagan and I do practice magick. First let me point out that magick has nothing to do with "Harry Potter", "Charmed" or any other Hollywood depiction of what they think (or wish) magick is. Your confusion seems to come from the fact that you don't actually understand what magick is. Magick is the art of changing situations or circumstances in conformity with one's will. Many times, magick is about changing our own perceptions of something, learning about ourselves to better facilitate change, or it is used as a tool to focus our resources on a goal. In these cases - the actions (i.e. lighting candles, saying certain words, creating 'talismans') are symbolic of what we are attempting to change. The actions/words/symbols/implements exist to show intent (is the person serious or not) of our will. Some of us are very visual like that. We need that symbolic representation of what we want in order to manifest it for ourselves.
I hope this helps you understand "magick" a little more. Now admittedly I have the issue of "proof" that you have with wanting to understand how magick works, too. There is some magick that I perform regularly that has provided me with consistent results each and every time -- and it admittedly drives me nuts trying to figure out "how" it works. I just know that it does. Because it's not the kind of magick where you're simply influencing yourself. It's about influencing other people - without any direct contact. If I ever figure that out -- I'll be sure to share.

Is this a question or a statement? Do you know better than the thousands of Wicca practicing today? Are you sure you do? (because maybe you do, I'm not saying either way) If it works for them, does that mean it will work for you? Every man and every woman is a star, travelling through the sky on their own course. If your course is not Wicca, good, if someone elses is, good.

Wicca is a serious religion, to those who take it seriously. Some very young Wiccans get caught up in the more "Hollywood" aspects of it, and make the rest of us look silly, but they tend to either grow out of it and move on, or grow into it and start taking it seriously. Really, it is nothing like Harry Potter. Our Magick cannot violate the laws of physics, and works very much like prayer in other religions. You simply can't watch it happen on film, but you can document successful Magick over time in a journal.
Every religion has rituals, sacred implements, and supernatural beliefs that can't be quantified in a lab. These things tend to look very silly to outsiders, but make perfect sense to believers. It is a spiritual path and discipline, focused on attuning with nature, the Gods, and the ancestors, and on personal spiritual growth. You want proof that it works? Look at the lives of Wiccans and other Pagans who have lived it and taken it seriously for many years. We are strong, independant, creative, free-thinking people, happy with ourselves, living our lives peacefully. As others have pointed out, you don't see Wiccans going from door to door looking for converts. You don't see Wiccan suicide bombers in shopping malls. You don't see Wiccans trying to force their morality on other people. We are very much a live and let live people. We don't expect you to understand us, agree with us, or even fully accept us. But we only ask that you leave us alone, and respect our right to be.

It is a religion and just like any religion there is an element of faith. Spell casting is really just another way to pray.
I have a feeling that you would pose this very same question to any and all religions, to prove to you that "whatever" works. But the "trick" is, you have to do it yourself. In order to test a theory and gain the experience or "the amount of needed proof" that you want, you would have to do it yourself.

maybe you should read more into the aspects of wicca before blasting your negative thoughts, then you may begin to understand what the religion is all about. It's not all about waving a wand in the air and *poof* something magickally appears. Unfortunately that doesn't happen. But negativitiy feeds negativity, try thinking positive thoughts about your life for a change and maybe good things may start to happen. Blessings to you from a Witch that is neither black nor white. ♥.•:**:•.♥ )o(♥.•:**:•.♥

No magician worth their salt will claim that magic can offer objective proof. I'm certainly under no obligation to reinforce your ignorant understanding of magic.
You don't believe me? Guess what: I don't care and never have. I don't ask anyone ele to prove their religion.
BTW, most of what you describe is more properly magic or witchcraft than Wicca, which is a religion. How about a tiny bit of research before you parade around like a know-it-all?
